I examined her leg, the wound wasn't fatal but she couldn't walk. I needed to disinfect and close the wound. "If you don't have many medical supplies a hot knife will do the trick" I remembered my masters words as she closed the wound on my side pressing the red hot dagger to it. The heat will also kill germs and prevent infection (I don't know if that's true, it's just convenient for the story, don't quote me on this I'm not a doctor). I took some strips of the cloth I had ripped up and set two on the side. I pulled out the fire bomb I had picked up off of the Hollow earlier and threw it down on the strips I had put to the side lighting them ablaze. I pulled out a small sword one of the Hollows had on them and held it over the fire. I looked up at Evelyn and saw her eyes widen. I gave her a small smile hoping to reassure her, "I'm sorry," I said to her as I put a small piece of the cloth in her mouth "bite." She complied and bit down on the cloth as I moved the blade away from the fire and pressed it against her wound. There were a few muffled cries and then silence. Had she passed out from the pain?

After the wound looked better I looked at her, yeah she had passed out. I sighed as I stomped on the fire putting it out. I gathered the ashes and put them in a bag as I looked back at Evelyn. This was the first time I was able to get a good look at her. I bent down and brushed the hair away from her face. She was beautiful not that I would say it out loud. Her porcelain skin and golden hair. I slowly got up trying to clear my mind as I thought of my options. I couldn't leave her her so I would have to carry her wherever I go. Going ahead meant the chance of running into more enemies and carrying her would impair my ability to dodge. I grunted as I picked her up. Looks like we were going back to Firelink.

It was warm. I groaned as I forced my eyes open. The last thing I could remember was the intense pain of Alex treating my wound. I tried getting up but something was resting around my waist. An arm? I shifted so I could see who the arm was connected to. Alex. He was sleeping beside me. I looked around and realized we were back at the place that looked like ruins. I returned my gaze to Alex but now he was shifting in his sleep. Was he having a nightmare? I reached towards him and rested a hand on his cheek. After I touched him he seemed to calm down, or maybe it was just me. When I started moving away his hand shot up grabbing my wrist tightly and his eyes snapped open, I saw recognition flash across them but they returned to ice cold.

I woke up to her touching my face. Her touch was warm.....welcoming. Something I hadn't experienced since the death of my master. She started to move away and I caught her wrist, eyes opening I recognized the girl I had left all those years ago. I wanted to call out to her, make her remember who I was, tell her what I never had. But I was haunted, cursed by the world. I gazed at her forcing my eyes to stone. I dropped her wrist and rose. "Can you walk?" I asked. She attempted getting up, she could stand but couldn't take a step yet.

I sighed. Close enough. I slung her arm around me as she let out a surprised squeal and we slowly made our way back to where we had been (no enemy respawns btw). The trip was filled with choking silence as there was nothing I could say.

We arrived to where we left off and entered the house on the right. She let out small sounds of pain as I helped her up the small set of stairs. At the top awaited a bridge but from here I could see there were also enemies. Shit. I couldn't fight well with her injured and I couldn't put here there in case one went after here. I sat her down facing toward the bridge. "Yell for me if any of them start coming this way."

Evelyn P.O.V
"Are you going to fight them by yourself?" I asked. "Yeah," he responded "why does it matter, it's not like you were helping before." Ow. That was cruel. I nodded slowly. He didn't have to add that. He stared at me for another second before turning and starting across the bridge.

I didn't feel good saying that to her, it pained me to say it but I had to push her away. She would be in danger. I sighed as I reached the end of the bridge quickly running to an enemy and piercing its rib cage. I turned to the next one and kicked it knocking it off the side of the building. Two Hollows had circled around me and were jumping at me. I quickly stepped back and watched as they hit each other killing themselves. I sighed as I lowered my blade, but before I could sheath it a crossbow bolt found it home in my shoulder. I let out a low growl as I turned to where the bolt had come from. An archer. I growled again as I reached down picking up a sword off of one of the fallen Hollows and threw it towards the archer. I turned around satisfied after watching the blade enter his skull and went to retrieve Evelyn. I made my way past the Hollow bodies and up a set of stairs finding another bonfire to my left. I entered the room with the bonfire and set Evelyn down. "Sleep" I commanded.
