Alex P.O.V
I climbed up a tree as fast as I could and hopped onto the branch of the other. Leaves brushed on against my face and the branches pierced through my skin, but I went on from tree to tree the cold my wind and the wet leaves caused some kind of numbness and cold itching. I looked beneath at the traps set all around. Thank god for giving me a brain.
I focused on the trees so I don't slip and fall and made sure to catch the branches as I am supposed to. I jump again and then realize the branch was too far away or I may say the tree was too far away for me to reach and when I looked beneath me I saw something unwanted.
Believe me you would be thinking it is quick sand but it's not. Don't make things worse for me, it's just the ground is too low and am flying through the air like a rocket and I think the ground should be of no concern to me as I thing I am going to be head first on the tree's stem. I don't know which one is worst landing on the ground or head first on the tree, and then I remembered I have something that can save me. My hands and the other trees that are around me, can.
I caught a small twig of the tree which was far stretching. Yes, I decided I rather fall on the ground than hurt my head and go from this world forever. It's not like I am a fan of this world, but still, too young to die and jack is still out there. I love him with every drop of blood I have and I am not leaving him like that. I never would even if I die.
I hear a crack and the twig breaks and I fall down on the ground and I grass hits my butt and I wince in pain.
Thank you mom for giving me a strong butt!
I sigh as my whole body goes numb and I lay on the ground holding my back. This hurts. Did I run for no reason, I mean tree hop. I stand up after a bit of wincing and complaining done.
I turn around and wait for an explosion but nothing, so I just sigh and turn around and start walking.
It's so cold. I grip on my jacket and close it a little. I have to hurry up. I take a step and a loud bang and some thrushes and thuds of trees and leaves and glooming shadows. I look at my watch and sigh; I came all the way here in under a minute. Nearly half a mile, that is, not really but it is still a little deep in the woods. Only a little-
I don't turn around instead I take out my satellite task mobile phone. I dial the help association and they pick up in a few rings.
"Hello! there's a fire in the woods, near the highway an explosion." I talk into the phone and don't wait for an answer and hang up. I don't have time for it and neither do I want to die in a forest fire. Honestly, until I reach my objective the forest would burn down and I want a way out too not only the objective that is quite obvious though. I walk forth and take out my press a button on my watch to see some life reforming main existence type, I mean human. I saw a two or a few dots on my watch. They're here, I mean alerted by the explosion.
This time I bother looking back and see only wild fire. It would engulf the forest in a quite some few moments. I took out a plastic wrap container from my pocket and press it and throw it a far as I could.
Ever heard of Ethermal=ml. You won't expect it but that was one of those toy bombs, I mean a cracker; I replaced it with powdered nitrogen in a capsule which divides with carbon dioxide. Impressed? Whose daughter am I after all! Well! My mom taught me when I was small, chemistry. She used to take me to the lab every once in a while when she was home and gave me books etc., for me to read and learn.
And all and all, forget that. But what I used was a dry ice bomb, for your information you know. It had a heavy element, so I could throw it. I sigh and walk my way being careful. You can never be too careful, never understood that one. I walked down the path and a snap came my way. I heard a snap and my eyes went to my calf muscles a rope strangled my foot and I went up, upside down. I sighed.
It's not a thing to panic about. I drew out a hanger (weapon used by sailors) and bent up. My head started hurting as all the blood went to my brain, I guess. I never liked biology; loved physics. Chemistry was left in between somewhere.
I easily cut it with one swift wave. Huh easy. I sharpened it myself. Ouch! I forgot the part about falling down. You can never be too careful- said by some dreadful person.
My head hurts my neck. Mommy! I looked at the hanger stuck between my legs, thank god it didn't cut. I took it back and put it in its cover. Ouch! My back hurts. Just why am I so clumsy god. Now only Jack will be the one saving me if this keeps happening.
I sigh and get up again with somewhat pain in my body. Okay! Now walk slowly. Don't rush it. Something happened in my stomach and that is not good. It's just seven hours and that is kind of a lot so- not really. I have to control. Patience there people who die out of hunger- and I don't want to be one of them. I sigh and put my hand into my pocket and fish out a pack of bubblegum. Yes! I'll eat that. It will stop me from eating grass. I don't want to waste a chewing gum.
It is getting really dark in here as I advance in the woods. The trees cover the light coming from the moon. My hands reached my waist belt and I push a small smooth button of the tiny flashlight; it gives a lot of light and is sharp enough, but it's kind of tiny. It's easily available here in to mountains as the miners use it. Yes! People go mining here and sometimes children are lucky enough to find one or two raw minerals time to time or so. I once found emerald (raw) and we do find salt, a lots of salt. I love salt and to process it. We can do that at homes and I still do it. And the part of salt is that there are different kinds of salt, they are same but kind of different, and you know salty flavors; you know like salt in food. Now don't get me started. My mouth is watering and it's making me hungry.
I sigh and look at the trees and in front of me. You must be wondering what it is, but it I nothing and yet something. Something tells me to run that way and something tells me to stop where you are, there's danger. I take a few steps as I see the shaking and dull ground. I am shaking.
Climb up the tree.
I listen to my guts and climb up on the closest tree to me and wait silently for some time. Footsteps.
I hear voices and one of them is too familiar. A heavy voice and two other; of men. I wait patiently and look beneath me; they won't be able to see me. The leaves of the trees cover me enough for someone to not notice. The thuds of the footsteps got louder and it seemed like they are approaching. They came close and at the same time in my view. My heartbeat got steady. Steady not fast okay!
I don't know but this is something I wanted to see for a long time. Her.
"Martin! And you go and search that side, and I'll see that one." She said in a heavy voice; forced to be heavy. The two men, one of them is a built man, while other looks shanky. I mean he looks like that cartoon Jack watches, a low sulky man, whose name is actually shanky. Well! That author must be something about educating children.
The children probably don't even know that it does mean that.
"You can come down now" she says after she makes sure that they are gone in her normal voice. I chuckle at her and climb down. Finally I meet her.
