Chapter 4
A hand clamped down on my mouth hard and I shot up. Someone put there arm around me and pulled me off the bed.
“Help!” My scream was muffled by the hand. I kicked and screamed but it was useless, I was being dragged to the window. I finally bite down and the hand released. “Isabella! Fate Teller! Kretter!” I screamed. Too late I was dragged out of the window as they rushed in.
Something caught me and my captor and suddenly we were lifted into the air. We were on a bird, a giant bird. I looked back at Fate Teller, Isabella and Kretter. I stopped struggling.
The journey begins. I thought.
I must have fallen asleep because when I woke up we had landed. I got tossed off of the bird and two guards caught me.
“Let me go! Let me go!” I said struggling. They had a hard time keeping me held. I kicked one of them in the face and he dropped my feet, then I bit the other’s arm.
“That’s enough!” A sickly looking man said as he stepped forward. He was tall and skinny with a grey beard and beady eyes. I could see why he didn’t want to age anymore.
My hands were bound behind my back by magic. “Hey! What do you want with me?” I asked.
“Come.” He ordered. I followed and so did the guard. “There was a prophecy. A girl with a pure heart and strong spirit would ‘save’ Minery. If you want my opinion, Minery is fine the way it is.”
“Well I don’t want your opinion. I can see that Minery is in darkness. You helped destroy it.”
“Ah, I can see that Fate Teller has gotten into your head. What a pity, you could have been a good ally.”
“With someone who helped destroy Minery? No thanks evil person.” I smiled.
He turned around. “Alright, then you will just be my prisoner!” We walked to a big glass box looking cage. It opened slightly. He poked my stomach with his cane. “Whatever strange magic you posess, this box will not be broken by physical force or magic because it is made of crystal.” The guards threw me in and the box shut. “Welcome to Crystal Valley Ebony.”
I sat on the ground feeling around the box. He’s right, it is crystal. I looked around and something outside caught my eye. I stood up and looked out. Sitting by the window was a smaller crystal box, and inside was a glowing figure.
“Anna!” I shouted.
The figure looked out and I saw her face. It was Anna, her golden wings dropping on the cold crystal bottom of the box.
Her voice was in my head. Who are you?
“Ebony.” I said. “The girl from the prophecy.”
The prophecy….
“Anna, what happened to you? How long have you been here?”
30 years…. Minery. What has Minery become?
“Fate Teller said they burned down the palace. They split it into provinces. There are four palaces now, ruled by the other four trusted royals of the king’s. Fate Teller said my mission was to get all of the treasured items so we can restore the land.”
You know nothing of my land. You are a human, you cannot restore Minery. She turned away.
Ouch. Kretter, Isabella and Fate Teller are human. I thought. “Anna you have to trust me, I will get us out of here somehow.”
