chapter 20

She writhed, as she transformed into the first child strigoi I had ever seen.

 She ran to the corner of the room, and quivered, rocking. She seemed to be whispering to her.

 Alberta and the others ran to kaitlyn, Adrian’s face soaked in tears as he looked at kaitlyn.

 “She’s dead, leave her…” said Alberta. No. she couldn’t be dead!

 “NO! She is NOT dead!” yelled Adrian, trying compressions as they tried to pry him off her.

 I turned my attention back to my child, cowering in the corner. and I had an I idea.

 “Lissa…”

 “I know.” She said. She took my stake from me and turned to Alice who lay there in the corner.

I turned to Dimitri and buried my head in his shoulder. He stroked my hair.

 “It’s alright Roza. She’s going to be fine” he whispered.

 I felt the light and magic of the spirit infused stake, and slowly turned my head from Dimitris shoulder to look at them.

 Alice’s brown eyes looked all around, confused and upset. She ran to lissa and cried into her shoulder. I breathed a sigh of relief.

 “ADRIAN, NO!”  Yelled lissa. I was confused as she ran over to where he was.

 Adrian was bent over Kaitlin’s lifeless body, eyes shut in concentration, as the light surrounded her.

 “ADRIAN IT WILL KILL YOU!” she yelled. And I realized what Adrian was doing.

 He was healing her.

 He seemed to ignore her, and the light continued to grow and engulf kaitlyn in the light.

Her eyes fluttered open, and Adrian’s eyes opened, just before he collapsed.

 Kaitlin’s POV

 I opened my eyes, and gazed into his eyes.

 And I knew where I knew those eyes.

 They were exactly the same green eyes as allies’. The moroi I had failed to protect.

 And Adrian collapsed to the ground.

 Adrian’s POV

 What the hell?

 I was surrounded by blurred faces, the lights around me hurting my head. I groaned loudly.

And then I caught sight of her.

 Kaitlyn stood bent over me, muttering things to me, in her kind voice.

 “Kaitlyn?” I murmured.

 “Yes, it’s me. It’s ok. You’re going to be alright” she said.  Then the recent events rushed back to me. The strigoi, Tasha, and Kaitlin’s body.

 I shot up in bed.

 “Are you ok?” I yelled. She had nearly died.

 She pushed me back down.

 “I’m fine. You nearly died! You should NOT have done that!” she shouted.

 When I saw her lying there, all I knew was that I had to save her. I didn’t really have a choice in the end. If she died I would have killed myself.

 I saw the doctors come in and they said I had to stay here another 2 days. Oh god I was going to be so bored.

 Rose approached me.

 “That was so stupid.” She said. “But brave”

 “Hey, I had to save her” I said simply. Rose smiled.

 “I’m glad you found someone Adrian.” She said to me. I loved kaitlyn more than any thing else ever.

 She promised me she would come and see me tomorrow, and then left.

 Rose’s POV

 The drive home was silent except for Alice’s snores. I think we were just glad we had all made it out alive.

 I stroked Alice’s hair and held her like I would never let her go. I shuddered as I thought about how I’d nearly lost her.

 And Adrian on the other hand.

 He really must have loved kaitlyn, because a healing spell like that could have killed him. And I wondered if he had thought about the fact that he is connected to kaitlyn now.

 I was so glad Adrian had finally moved on.

When we got back home, we all unloaded on the car, and christen looked particularly sad.

 “Christian?” I said.

“Hm?” he said kind of distant.

 “Are you all right?”

 “Tasha chose to be strigoi. Just like my parents-“ but just before he could finish I pulled him into a hug.

 “Uhhh- rose? What the hell” he said.

 “You better be happy, or im gonna give you another hug” I threatened. He plastered a grin onto his face and I laughed at him.

6 months later  

Damn. I really had to tell this secret or I was gonna explode!

But I couldnt tell. adrian made me promise.

Because you see, the thing is, Adrian was gonna propose to Kaitlyn!

in front of everyone.

I really hoped she would say yes, because it would be a shame if she made him look like a tit. Well, actually it'd be quite funny. But, i think maybe she would say yes. They had been unable to keep their hands off eachother since adrian had saved her, and made kaitlyn shadow kissed. She was now his guardian, which meant adrian now no longer had to stay in the house, thank god!

so, i made my way downstairs to where adrian was, sitting on the couch looking very nervous.I went and sat next to him, deciding i would give him a quick pep talk.

"Look, relax. She loves you.She'll say yes!"  I said. he still looked unsure.

"Maybe this was a bad idea" he said. before he could go any further I coughed and got everyone's attention.

"Kaitlyn, Adrian has something to tell you."

she looked up from the book she was reading.

Adrian stepped forwards and pulled a box out of his pocket with shaking hands.

"Kaitlyn? will you marry me?" he said as he got on his knees, and opened the box to reveal a diamond ring. I whistled and adrian gave me a death glare.

Kaitlyn had tears in her eyes, and seemed lost for words.

"y-yes. of course i will" she said. Adrian let out a sigh of relief, and went over to slide the ring on her finger, looking up at her like he worshiped her.

the rest of us started cheering and Christian was doing wolf whistles.

lissa and me went up to kaitlyn and gave her hugs and discussed wedding plans while dimitri and Christian gave Adrian man hugs.

"that took guts man" said Christian.

Adrian was the happiest I had seen him in a long time. And Kaitlyn had made me maid of honor! i was so excited!
