Chapter 30
Chase POV:I just got out the shower. The masquerade was in thirty minutes. My dad want Gina and I to show up a bit early for something. He didn't say what, but I know I might not like it. I button up my shirt and threw on my jacket. A knock came to the door. I open it and Deshawn came in.
"Wassup man," I said as we dapped.
"Aye, wassup," he said. He looked me up and down. "Damn man. You sharp; you meeting one of our allies?"
I shook my head. "Stop playing. You know what's going on."
He laughed. "Ya. Good thing I keep a tux in the trunk next to my ski mask and gun."
I laughed too. This dude still got jokes. I patted him on the back. "I got to go. Get ready for tonight."
He nodded. I walked to the room. "Aye," Deshawn said. I turn to him. "Don't I have to have one of those mask things?"
I almost forgot about that. He needed that to get in and to be unnoticed by Star. I thought about it for a second before I got an idea. "I'll be right back."
Deshawn nodded.
I grab my mask and headed out the door. I went into Bre's room and heard the water running in the bathroom. I smiled a little to myself as I saw a dress and accessories on the bed. The invitation box was on the bed beside the dress wide open with the mask in it. I took the mask and replaced it with my own. I hope she didn't mind that I took hers. I walked out and went back to my room. The shower was running in there too. I set the mask on the bed for Deshawn to get. I grab the extra mask I had in my bag and stroll downstairs to see what my dad want.
When I got there, Gina and Stella was sitting down deep in a conversation. I'm glad that Gina finally got along with Stella. That's less drama to think about tonight.
My dad stroll toward me with a big smiled. "Chase," he said a bit too happy. I knew something was going on. "How you're feeling son?"
"I'm good. How bout yourself?" I asked.
"I'm great," he said as patted me on the back. "Come walk with me." I followed him as the men around finished the decorations for the party. "Well, you probably already know what I need to talk to you about."
I nodded. "You still want me to marry."
"Or just consider it." We stopped outside a baloney. It was night outside, but you could hardly see any stars. He shook his head. "Son. I'm becoming an old man, and soon or later I'm gonna get too old to take care of myself."
I nodded. I learn never to interrupt him whenever he was making a speech. He could talk to me all night. The less you comment, the faster he'll finish.
"I just wanna be able to take care of my future grandkids and interrogate any female that try to marry you for the wrong reasons." I knew he was referring to my money and title. "I just want you to find someone who will be able to live up to your statistics."
"Ok. I'll try to find someone for that," I said. I was tired of this conversation with him. If I agree with him, he'll let it go. I need to make sure that everyone else is ready for tonight.
He nodded. "And I'll help you," he said.
I stared at him. He must already have someone in mind if he offer to help. Before I could say anything, Gina walked between me and him. "Hay," she said with a smile.
"Hey," I said while slightly hitting her arm.
She glared at me a little before my dad and Gina hugged. "Hello baby girl. You look beautiful in your dress," dad said to her.
