The affair

I was with you yet my mind was elsewhere.
You held my hand but your skin was not what I felt brushing against mine.
Words of yours never seemed to be heard with your voice but his.

I will never deny the truth that lies in front of your very eyes,
It will be dispersed with a cough of your request,
Life is too short to conceal my feelings with embarrassment,
I do not feel guilty, nor do I feel the pain of regret,
And I shall not sugarcoat my misdeeds.

But one day,
If you do catch a glimpse of this enigmatic pair of eyes,
The glint that you see shall not be misconceived,
They are not for the present but the past.
