Chapter 1 - WolfTale

A New Home

~

Frisk walked into his living room and sat on the couch, feeling comfortable. A short, "chubby" skeleton walked over to the child and sat beside him. "adjusting well, eh, kiddo?"

Frisk gave him a small smile and nodded once, Sans grinned back in return.

He couldn't believe it had already been three months since his adventures throughout the Underground. Three months since everyone's been freed. Thankfully, they all seemed to be adjusting to their new lives as well as he was.

The day he fell into the Underground happened to be his last day of school. Luckily, that gave everyone about three months of summer break to become used to living with monsters. Frisk was already enrolled in school which said that it will be accepting monster students and monster staff members. Toriel applied to be a teacher and got the job. Frisk was excited for this school year.

Another one of the most exciting things Frisk had experienced after he returned to the surface was getting interviewed on TV. He didn't really care about the money or attention he was getting, Frisk never felt like the celebrity type, but being allowed to sit down and tell his tale of how he saved the monsters felt amazing. He hoped that it inspired everyone to show the monsters kindness after what they've been through. So far, it seems to be working.

Because of all of the positive attention he was getting, Frisk was lucky enough to be offered a large house that most likely would've been quite a lot of money due to its location and size. Peacefully isolated in the woods, but not too far from everyone else. Just far enough away to be comfortable. Toriel, Sans, and Papyrus were the only ones that wanted to live with him.

He wanted all of his friends to come live with him, including Alphys, Undyne, Asgore, even Flowey. However, Alphys and Undyne said that they'd prefer to live by themselves. Toriel wouldn't allow Asgore to live with her, but Flowey chose to stay with him. From what Frisk knows, Undyne and her girlfriend live in a larger house near the opening of the woods, closer to Frisk's house. Asgore and Flowey live in a smaller house right next to Alphys and Undyne's.

Frisk wondered how they were doing. Perhaps he could visit them soon and take house tours. Just about everyone has already seen Frisk's house, maybe he could stay the night at theirs some day if he asked Toriel nicely.

Frisk leaned against the back of the couch and closed his eyes, letting out a heavy sigh and looking very content. However, the sound of footsteps and a familiar voice made Frisk open his eyes. "FRISK! ARE YOU STILL COMING WITH ME? I THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO GO FOR A WALK TOGETHER."

Frisk smiled at the other skeleton. "Of course." He hopped off of the couch and followed Papyrus out the door. Sans watched them carefully as they approached the door.

"you two stay safe, k?" Sans said.

"ALRIGHT, WE'LL BE BACK SOON!" said Papyrus as he opened the door for Frisk.

While walking away from their house and beginning the exit the woods, Frisk had to ask Papyrus, "You told Toriel what we were doing before we left, right?"

Papyrus nodded, making Frisk feel a lot better. He knows how worked up she can get when she doesn't know where he's at.

Frisk knows why, it's because of her past experiences with taking care of children. Each one ended up perishing somewhere in the Underground and Toriel blames herself for being too careless. Frisk doesn't believe that at all and he tries his best to reassure her, but no matter what, she still feels guilty. There isn't much Frisk can do other than try to let her know that she's doing a great job of taking care of him.

"WOW, LOOK AT THE SIZE OF UNDYNE'S HOUSE! IT'S ALMOST AS BIG AS OUR'S!" Papyrus said excitedly.

Frisk looked up to see what Papyrus described, a house nearly the size of their own.

Looking beside their house, he saw a smaller home. It was cute, it looked friendly and inviting. Frisk could easily tell that Asgore lived there because flowers carpeted the lawn. However, Frisk couldn't help but wonder how Flowey was doing in a small home on the surface. Better yet, how well Asgore was handling him and his behavior.

Frisk turned his attention back to Undyne and Alphys' home. "I wonder if they're awake." Frisk said.

"JUST IN CASE, WE PROBABLY SHOULDN'T BOTHER THEM." Papyrus responded.

Right as the pair started to walk away, Frisk heard a rough voice say "Hey, dorks! Get back here!"

Turning around with joy, both Frisk and Papyrus hurried back over to see Undyne standing on her porch. She had her arms crossed and was leaning against the front door, looking at the pair with tired eyes. Her hair was a little messy too, it looked as if she had just woken up. Undyne was wearing a black hoodie with long black leggings along with a pair of red boots she normally wears.

Undyne was smiling wide, showing off her sharp, yellow teeth. "Haven't seen you two in a while-how have you been?"

"WE'VE BEEN GREAT!" Papyrus answered happily. "WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO?"

"We've gotten so much done in the house, it's been awesome!" Undyne exclaimed. "Alphys just got done turning our basement into her new lab, and it looks great! You guys should come see it sometime."

Papyrus looked around curiously. "SPEAKING OF WHICH-WHERE IS DOCTOR ALPHYS?"

"Ah, she's up in our room sleeping. Probably worn out from working so hard on her lab." Undyne looked up, most likely in the direction of their room, and smiled warmly.

"I'm glad you guys are happy with your new home," said Frisk, "I'm hoping I'll be able to stay over some time, if that's ok with you."

Undyne chuckled. "Of course it's alright, just don't make me burn my kitchen down again, alright?" She gave him a sly wink.

"Yes, ma'am!" Frisk said, saluting to her.

"Good. Now, you two should head off to wherever you're going, it's getting late."

Undyne was right, the sun was already set, more and more stars were appearing in the darkening sky as they spoke.

"GOODNIGHT, WE'LL SEE YOU AND DOCTOR ALPHYS SOON!" Papyrus waved to her, Frisk did the same.

"See ya, punks." Undyne muttered quietly as she opened the door and went inside.

"I guess we'll have to make the rest of our walk snappy." Frisk shrugged, though he wished he could spend more time looking around.

"YES, YOU'RE RIGHT. I THINK WE SHOULD FINISH THIS UP TOMORROW." Papyrus said, looking slightly worried.

Frisk raised a brow, grinning. "What, are you scared?"

Papyrus gave Frisk a rather annoyed look, but it didn't seem intimidating or mean. "OF COURSE I AM NOT! I'M WORRIED ABOUT YOUR WELLBEING, I'VE DONE ENOUGH TRAINING WITH UNDYNE TO KNOW HOW TO PROTECT MYSELF. I'M SURE THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO PROTECT YOU TOO, THOUGH!"

"Aw, that's sweet of you." Frisk complimented Papyrus.

Papyrus smiled wide. "WHAT ELSE ARE YOU EXPECTING FROM SOMEONE THIS GREAT?"

Frisk laughed quietly before saying, "Alright, alright, we should start heading back now."

Papyrus took Frisk's hand gently before beginning to walk in the direction of the woods. They both made their way back home.

Before going inside his home, Frisk heard something. It sounded similar to rustling, perhaps a deer or fox from the woods is near his house?

"Papyrus, I'll be right back."

Papyrus looked at Frisk worriedly. "YOU'RE STAYING OUT HERE? WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO COME WITH YOU?"

"No, no, I'm sure I'll be fine. I think something's in our backyard and I'm going to check it out."

"ALRIGHT..PLEASE DON'T GET HURT."

"I'm sure I won't."

As Papyrus stepped inside, Frisk walked to the back of his home. Staying slightly hidden behind the edge of his house, Frisk looked into his backyard to see an older man with gray hair walking through his yard.
