Chapter 7 – Tears And A Broken Nose.
Loud voices woke me up from the first peaceful sleep I had in months and I felt dizzy. I slowly sat up and took my phone to check the time. 4:26 AM. "You are a disrespectful little brat! I think someone should knock some sense into you!" A loud voice slurred and I was suddenly wide-awake. Hastily I made my way over to the door and stepped into the dark hallway, which was only slightly lightened by the light coming from downstairs. "You are a disgrace to this family!" Markus shouted, a loud shatter following. Oh my god.
"I did nothing wrong." I heard my brother calmly respond. He seemed to be slightly out of breath and then I realized. It sounded like he had already received some hits.
"You did nothing wrong?! Well then tell me who allowed you to go out and get drunk and just rudely stamp into this house at fucking 4 in the morning, because I certainly didn't!" Markus was now at a certain level of angriness, which meant that it could only turn violent down there. I felt my cheeks getting wet. It had never happened as often as it did in the last few weeks and certainly not two times in a row.
"Go to sleep Kelsey." I heard a quiet whisper tell me from the side while the angry shouting from downstairs became louder. My mum was looking at me with red eyes and a face full of horror. I could feel nothing but plain disappointment looking at my so-called mother. She just stood there crying like a fucking baby doing nothing about her son getting beaten by her abusive husband. Heavy footsteps brought me out of my bad thoughts and made me realize that they were coming up the stairs. As I looked over to my mum I noticed that she had already gone back to bed and I quickly did the same as the steps came closer. I jumped into my bed as fast as I could and pretended to sleep just in case Marcus would come in to check on me. But no one came, and after a last loud scream of pain everything went silent.
_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_
I was sitting on my bed browsing the Internet searching for a summer job for the break to be at least a little bit independent from Mum and Marcus as I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in." I said while closing my laptop. The door slowly opened and a horrible looking Jay made his way into my room. "Oh my God!" I hastily made my way over to him to examine his face.
"Do you have anything to cover this?" He asked no emotion showing. His lip was busted and had a cut at the side, his right eye was full on blue and swollen to the point that he could not be seeing anything anymore. More bruises made their way down his face and neck area. But the worst was definitely his nose. It was bruised as well and didn't look as straight anymore as it looked yesterday at the party.
"Covering? Are you kidding me?" I said turning his face into the light shining in through the window. "We need a doctor to have a look at this Jay."
"No. I don't need a doctor. I'm fine. I just need to cover it somehow." He responded looking into the direction of my make-up table.
"I can't cover it. Everyone will see that these are bruises even if I use all the makeup I have and by the way, your nose looks broken Jay." I felt tears slipping out of my eyes. I had heard what happened in the early morning and I knew that Marcus got violent again but it got never out of hand to this extent before. His bruises from before weren't even fully healed and Marcus already beat him up again. Normally he always made sure that he only attacked Jay's body parts that were hidden under shirts so that no one would see the bruises at training or so and he could easily cover it but now he didn't even seem to care anymore. It frightened me and I was angry at myself. I should have gone downstairs, I should have.."
"Stop crying Kels'. It's okay." My brother whispered pulling me into a hug.
"No it's not! We will see a doctor." I said determined. "Marcus and Mum went out this morning so let's go now." To my surprise Jay didn't directly decline.
"When Marcus is gone we have no car. Mine broke down yesterday after practice so I left it there till I can pay the mechanic." He stated and I knew he was aware of the fact that a doctor was necessary in this case. A thought popped up into my head.
"Grab your things, I'll make a call."

Author's Note:
Hey, Hi, Hello.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter even though Jay had it bad and it was a short one. I promise the next ones are going to be longer.
By the way, I'm probably going to update again today since I'm driving to the Netherlands very early tomorrow and won't have time to update.
Don't forget to vote and please leave a comment. It would make my day! :-)
Have a lovely one!
