Chris' P.O.V.
I've been driving Kairo to and from school for about a week now. She still hasn't really opened up, but it's just a matter of time. I was sitting in 6th hour, which was Civics. I hate this class with a fiery passion, the only positive thing about it is that Kairo's in here.
I sat in the back in a daze. I never really paid attention in here. Yeah, I'm a good student, and yeah I make good grades, but I just don't see how learning about dead presidents and political stuff is important. Well I see WHY it's important, I just don't care...
I was in my own zone when I was abruptly snapped out of my thoughts by my teacher, Ms. Hues. Man, her annoying ass....
"CHRISTOPHER!!" she yelled. "Huh!?... What!?" I jumped out of my thoughts frantically.
"I've been calling your name for the past minute, now get out of la-la-land and answer the question!" she snapped. I rolled my eyes, "Man, what was the question??" I asked, highly annoyed.
"If you were paying attention, you would know that, now wouldn't you?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. People snickered and I just rolled my eyes and continued in my daze as she started back wit her whack ass lesson.
Finally, the bell rung and I was more than happy to dip the fuck out. Right when I was getting ready to walk out the door, Ms. Hues ol' kill joy ass called me back. I sighed in aggravation and mumbled a few swears under my breath.
"Yes, Ms. Hues?" I asked politely whilst turning around. I may not like her ass, but I was raised better than to disrespect a woman.
"I've noticed that as class progresses along with the school year, you seem to get more and more into a -- how can I say this? ... DELIRIOUS state. Why is that?" she asked. I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't know, I just don't see why I need to learn about this. Plus it's borin'." I said nonchalantly.
She had a look on her face like I had just slapped the shit out of her; Pure bewilderment.
"Christopher whether or not you think that this class is 'unimportant' or 'boring', it is still a class that you NEED to pass in order to graduate. I'd advise you to get yourself together because, by the looks of it so far, I'll be seeing you again next year."
I groaned in aggravation. "Ugh, ight what do I need to do?" I asked. "Well you could either A.) Do a 350 point Power Point along with a 7 page essay on a topic I will assign to you, then pick up your slack from there, or B.) Get a student tutor." she said.
Ain't no way in HELL I'm gon' do all that damn work when I'm STILL not even guaranteed to pass!
"If I was to get a student tutor, who would it be?" I inquired. She raised an eyebrow. "Taking the easy way out, eh?" I stale faced her. I ain't got time for her ass!
"Well I would assign you my top student in all of my AP Civics classes altogether, which is...." she stopped and went through her grade book. "Ms. Carter." she finished. "Who is that?" I asked furrowing my eyebrows together, clearly confused.
"Y'know, Kairo Carter? She's quiet and ALWAYS does a phenomenal job." she said.
I got happy as hell when I realized that with the tutoring choice, Kairo would tutor me. Hell yeah, that girl fine as fuck!
"Okay, okay so when does she start tutoring me?" I asked eagerly. She looked at me weird. "Well, umm... whenever you two want to start..." she said, "Just let her know that it is MANDATORY that she does this, I haven't had a student fail in a while and I do not want to start a streak now."
I narrowed my eyes at her and walked out and down the hallway. I was excited as hell! I finally got a VALID excuse to talk to Kairo more. I mean she fine and all, but a relationship is OUT of the question. It's not her shyness, I actually find that cute. It's her insecurities. She just too damn insecure. But I'm not gon' lie, before I knew of that I actually felt some type of way towards her. But now, she might just be a fun little game; a hit and run actually. I can get her in bed to show her that she's NOT ugly, and then POOF, her insecurities are gone. Plus, I get some cuddy. Yup, it's a win-win situation.
