Only it didn't come, instead of my body crashing against the hard concrete like I'd been anticipating, I could feel something wrap around my waist. Almost as if it was pulling me up.
Was that someone's hands? Luke's maybe? No! Luke's hands were too lanky. In fact this doesn't feel like someone's hands come to think of it... It feels more like a force field around me, but that wouldn't make any sense. Would it?
I was startled for the second time, however this time, the person that cleared their throat sounded much more masculine. It was only then that I realized that my feet were on the ground(which felt quite normal at the moment might I add) and my arms were wrapped around something.
I reluctantly pried one eye open... then the other, and as I tilted my head a bit, the fragrance of an unusual cologne overwhelmed my senses.
Realizing my face was dangerously close to someone's neck, I attempted to pull my head back a bit. However, that obviously wasn't a very smart move, since I was now staring into a pair of blue eyes.
I was a bit surprised by how cold and distant they seemed... Almost as if they were void of any emotion whatsoever.
For some reason it made me feel like the ground did, only a few moments ago... two icy blue holes just waiting to consume me.
A shiver involuntarily ran up my spine, and I immediately unwound my hands from around his neck.
I tried to move away, but his hands were still around my waist... At least that's what I thought at first. When I looked down, his hands were at his sides and there was absolutely nothing around my waist.
I tried to move away again... But I couldn't, it still felt as if there was something keeping me pinned against him.
I looked up at his face again and in the process of avoiding his eyes, I ended up staring at his lips.
I was more than a bit surprised to find them turned up in a mischievous smirk. Almost as if he were gloating.
He couldn't be doing this deliberately, could he? I mean there was no way? It wouldn't make sense. Then again, nothing has made sense since I stepped out of the car this morning. Is all this supposed to be some sort of prank or something?
I felt someone lightly tapping my shoulder, around the same time I felt something release my waist.
"Aves, you alright?" Came Leona's concerned voice.
"Yeah, yeah... I'm fine" I replied, my throat dry and my voice coming out amazingly calm and collected, even though I wasn't all that certain at the moment.
I was however immensely relieved to be able to finally move away from him.
Not that I don't enjoy getting up close and personal with a smoking hot stranger. It's just that this stranger was starting to creep me out a bit.
Leona turned to the unfamiliar guy in front of us.
"Thank you so much!" She exclaimed, a bit too enthusiastically if you ask me, as if he had just saved me from a life threatening situation or something.
I mean he merely prevented me from falling, there was no need to go overboard with the gratitude.
Leona nudged me, probably trying to get me to remember my manners.
"Thanks" I muttered, while Leona eyed me curiously.
"You're not familiar" She pointed out the obvious, turning her attention to him.
"Yeah, I just moved here recently." He replied in a deep, peculiar voice that sounded insanely seductive.
That voice. That goddamn voice! His voice. Why does it seem like I've heard it before? I couldn't quite place my finger on it, but as someone who has a thing for sexy voices, I was certain his sounded eerily familiar.
