On Saturday morning Leona came over so we could team up and tackle our Math assignment together. One of my favorite subjects and Leona's biggest nightmare.
"What do you think of Rylan?" I knew this was coming.
"He's nice I guess".
"You're not a fan, are you?" She laughed. "Have to admit he's hot though".
"He's definitely eye candy, I'll give him that."
"But there's something odd about him' I decided to add.
"Yesterday was a bit creepy" she surprised me by saying.
I would've expected Leona to be blinded by his charm. I'm glad she wasn't though, it gave me a slight glimmer of hope I haven't been completely losing my mind.
"Exactly. Like does he have a past he's running from or something? Why would he deny knowing that girl?"
"I tried stalking him on Facebook" she admitted sheepishly. Why hadn't I thought of that?
"Did you find anything?" I prodded.
"His account is pretty much dead recently. That's the strange part. Like a few months ago he was your typical social media butterfly. "
"That is odd, unless he's doing a social media detox like Ariana Grande or something." I found myself wondering out loud. "Were there photos? Were his eyes brown?"
"Yes for both" she replied. "He actually had a bunch of photos with the girl from the cafeteria. They seemed pretty tight. Here, I'll show you." She offered, pulling out her phone.
We spent over an hour stalking him on Facebook. I guess it really was that addictive.
Leona and I decided we'd just speak to Stacey at school on Monday. She's a much more reliable source.
There was also a slight possibility we were just two bored teenagers letting our imaginations run wild, when there really wasn't any reason to suspect Rylan at all. However, the possibility we were onto something trumped that.

No matter how much you try to squeeze in, weekends are never long enough. After the math assignment was done and dusted, and prepping for the upcoming week, I wasn't left with much time for fun stuff. Next thing I knew it was Monday morning again. This Monday brought a bit more excitement than usual though. I was eager to unravel the mystery surrounding Rylan.
When we arrived at school, my eyes immediately scanned the school grounds for Stacey. And I'm pretty sure Leona did the same but there was no sign of Stacey.
"Probably late or something" Leona caught my eye.
"Who?" Luke questioned.
"Rylan." "No one." Leona and I responded at the same time.
Luke eyed us suspiciously.
"No, I mean Rylan's here" she blushed. Looking past us as if she were stuck in some sort of trance.
Gosh, he was just drool-worthy. Not hypnotic worthy. I thought Leona was getting over her stupid crush already. And even if she is still crushing on him, why am I getting so worked out about it? Maybe I'm just looking out for my best friend I reasoned with myself.
"Hi there" the sound of Rylan's deep voice whispering in my ear brought me back to reality and didn't fail to send shivers down my spine once again.
I looked him up and down and now I understood why Leona seemed hypnotized earlier. He had on black pants with a white T-shirt and black leather jacket. I always had a thing for guys in leather. This took his attractiveness to a whole new level, quite possibly hypnotizing me in the process as well.
"I have that effect on people" he winked at me.
How does he do that? Was I really that obvious with checking him out?
"Maybe you were" he smirked slyly at me.
"Come let's get to class" he urged as the buzzer sounded.
