A/N Wow guys thanks so much for 100+ views! It means a lot to me! I can't believe that many people are reading my book! Anyway, back to the story :) <3 Amanda
I hopped off the bed, eying her closely. She wore brown boots, obviously heavily worn. Dark, skinny jeans were tucked into her leather boots. A red plaid shirt was worn to compliment her long brown hair that naturally fell wavy. She was also carrying a black backpack for some reason. However, she was overall gorgeous. I was just wearing my junky tennis shoes I had quickly thrown on so I wasn't late to school. I had jeans with a hole in the knee and a navy blue t-shirt. My dirty blond hair was ratty from being messed up from the endless handkerchiefs that were tied around my head.
She looked friendly, a little too friendly.
"Well, are you ready to go?" Darla asked me.
"To the 'safety' of yours?"
Before she could say, 'sorry for murdering that guy I just don't like him', I heard an alarm. It almost sounded like a fire alarm I would hear at Sierra High School. Darla gasped and whispered in my ear, "We have to go. Now. We can't let them get you."
I didn't have a choice. She grabbed my already sore wrists and we were off. Only seconds after we had left the room, I heard something that not one of us wanted to hear. Two men were on our tail, yelling for us to stop running and to come back. We didn't dare look back and we kept running. Like I had a choice. Darla was still keeping a death grip on my wrist like her life depended on it.
"BANG BANG!" A gun fired from behind us. I continued to run forward with all of my strength, but turned around so I could see who it was.
It was Chuck and Bernie.
Darla apparently had looked too. "This is not good. Those jerks..."
I kept my mouth shut as we continued to run. Well, I was mostly quick jogging. I am not made for running, and I am not in good shape.
"Oh hurry up Sarah!..."
"Sorry," I gasped for air. "I'm just-no-not-made for this!"
"Yes you are! Just- keep- running!" She yelled at me.
"BANG BANG!" More shots were fired and one grazed my arm. Nothing fatal. I winced at the pain but kept running.
Chuck and Bernie were now starting to fall behind, but they were still pretty close.
All of a sudden, Darla let go of my wrist and stopped at a sewer grate. She pulled it off with ease, apparently not screwed down at all. She jumped in and disappeared below.
Great, I thought. Thanks for leaving me alone up here with two men that want to kill me...
"Jump in!" She shouted. "Now!"
Pulling the sewer grate over me , I sighed and jumped in, leaving the two men above stuck.
