Jason's pov
I finally get back home. "I'm getting too old for this stuff." I mutter, opening the door, exhausted. I collapse to the couch, barely able to keep my eyes open.
Luke's pov
"I got a new tour starting up soon." I say, holding Caroline's hand. "I'm coming along." She says. Miranda's phone buzzes. "Oh! Jason's home!" She cries, running our the door. Maybe he can join me on tour. I bet he misses it.
Miranda's pov
I get home and he's snoring on the couch. I sit beside him. He looks exhausted. Poor Jason. I remove his shoes and hat to make him more comfortable and he sits up quickly. "Jesus! You scared me." "Oh sorry. I just got your text and rushed home." He looks confused. "I didn't.... Text you." "I got a text from your phone saying, 'I'm home!'" I gasp confused. "Baby I haven't had my phone since I became a prisoner of war a few months back." "Then.... Who texted me? And how did.... How did they know you were home?" I shakily ask. He stares at me terrified. "Jas-" He grabs my hand and we run outside to his truck. "Show yourself!" He yells angrily. "Jason! Get in!" I cry shakily. He jumps in and we floor out of the drive. "I don't wanna lose you again, Jason." I whisper, hugging him. "You won't baby. I promise." We're going really fast. "I think you should slow down." He glares out the side mirror. "That's just what they want me to do." He whispers. "Nobody's here!" I gasp astonished. "Yes they are! How else would they know I was home!" He's got a point. We get to Luke's and he explains everything.
Luke's pov
"Luke you've gotta be ready to fight these guys. They're horrible. If they get a hold of the girls, no telling what's going to happen to them." I think his PTSD is fucking with his head, making him paranoid. "Jason, calm down! The bad guys aren't here! You killed them all!" "No not all of them." He sys with a worried nervous laugh. "If I did how the fuck did they use my damn phone! We're in some trouble here man! I ain't kidding! Be ready!" He gasps, pacing and mumbling to himself. The girls are terrified. "Calm down. Nothing's here. He's just PTSD paranoid." I reassure them, getting a glare from my friend. "So you don't wonder even a little how she got that text? When I haven't had my phone in months?!" He yelps. I grab his shoulder and we walk outside. "Jason, you've gotta retire from the service. It's messing you up!" I say, worriedly. "You're an idiot. It's not something you can retire from! If they need me, I gotta go!" I sigh and lean against my truck. He's nervously pacing again. "Just.... I came here to warn you. I gotta go talk to Mike and the guys, warn them too!" Jeez!
Jason's pov
He grabs my shoulders catching me off guard. "You need to calm down. You're freaking out over nothing!" He doesn't know anything!! "Of rather be prepared to protect my family with my life which is what you should be doing too!" I snap, pulling free. "Come on hun, we gotta go talk to Mike." "Jason please listen to me!" Luke shouts. "I have listened. I'm not just being paranoid! I know what I'm talking about!" "And what if you're wrong? Huh? Tell me that?" He crosses his arms. "I don't know then at least I tried! I am not gonna let them come here and hurt the ones I care about! God dammit! Luke this is why I didn't want you on the battlefield! You don't know what I've seen these people do! Better safe than sorry." "I'm just worried about you Jason. I'm afraid you're losing it." I did lose it for a little bit when I was locked up. But I'd never admit that. I open my truck door as Miranda walks out. "Don't worry about me man, just..... Pray everything goes okay."
Luke's pov
They leave and I walk back inside and sit down, my head in my hands. "That guy has officially lost it." I whisper. "All you can do is be here for him." "I'm trying to be! But he won't listen!" She sighs. "Jason's a stubborn hardheaded idiot. He's not going to listen. But just let him talk crazy! Its doesn't hurt anyone." "It hurts him. He's scared out of his mind for his wife and son. He thinks they're gonna torture him." I sigh, shakily. "What do we do, Caroline?" She stares at me sadly, not having an answer.
Miranda's pov
He's barricaded the house. "Don't you think this is a bit excessive?" I gasp, walking around his sandbag barricade. "Better safe than sorry." He says, taking the cigarette out of his mouth. I cross my arms. "You do know cigarette smoke is bad for pregnant women. Hence the reason ya can't smoke while pregnant!" I snap annoyed. He sighs. "Hun, if anything is gonna put you in danger, it'll be the assholes hiding somewhere. Not a damn cigarette. You're fine." He has a gun on his hip and another leaning against the house. "Where the fuck are these bastards?" He whispers, glaring around the neighborhood. I sigh. "You're freaking out because of a stupid text!" I shout. "God dammit! You think I'm crazy too don't you?!" He turns around glaring angrily. "I don't think you're crazy!" I gasp shocked he'd say that. I hear footsteps behind me. Jason's jaw drops, the cigarette falling from his mouth. He raises the gun, his hands shaking. "Get away from her!!" He shouts, tears coming to his eyes. I feel a hand on my shoulder. I'm too scared to move. "Get the fuck off her you bastard!!! Don't touch my wife!" "J-Jason... Who's behind me?" He doesn't respond, still glaring at whoever it is behind me. "Don't move." He whispers shakily. I stay perfectly still as he shoots him.
Jason's pov
Oh God! No! He grabs her and shoves her in the way of the bullet!!! I shakily fall to my knees. I just killed my wife and son. I hear running footsteps. "You did it! It's okay!" Huh? Maybe I'm just imagining it! I open my eyes and she's on her knees in front of me. "I thought I shot you." I whisper, shaking. "You didn't. It's okay. You saved me." I hug her tight. The enemy followed me home. My family and friends are in danger because of it. I grab the enemy soldier's body and throw it in my truck. "What are you doing?" "I have to prove to Luke they're really here." I say, jumping in the driver's side. She gets in the passenger. "And for the record I never thought you were crazy." I force a smile. "Thanks hun. That's my biggest pet peeve is people calling me crazy."
Luke's pov
The door is shoved open and Jason angrily drops the body of a man on my living room carpet. "What the hell!" I screech. "He attacked us. He's from the Syrian army. I told you they're here and they will kill you given the chance. Luke don't give them that chance." He shoves a gun into my hand. "I thought I wasn't ready for battle?" I grumble, glaring at him. "Suck it up buttercup. It's time to be ready whether you are or not." He growls, glaring right back at me. "I am not crazy. I was right. If I didn't come over to tell you and they'd attacked you both would be dead like that!" He says snapping his fingers. "Can I trust you to be a man?" My hands are shaking around the gun now. I shakily nod. He salutes. "Don't die old friend." He whispers. I shakily salute him back. "At ease soldier." He says, patting my back then heading to the door. Miranda is staying here. I get it now. He needs me to protect her too! That's why he's so worried! I don't know what he's doing but I'm not gonna let him down.
