Luke's pov

Miranda can't stop crying. She holds her six month pregnant stomach. "What are we gonna do for a doctor?" Caroline whispers. I shrug, staring at the poor girl.

Jason's pov

*a few months later*

I'm hunting every last fucker down. I'm bringing America back. Singlehandedly. I pull out the picture of Miranda when I first met her. She's probably still crying on the front porch. This time it's gonna take some time to heal. Cause I'm not coming back. After I take these bastards out, I'm going into hiding. That way I don't hurt anyone. I stop at a grocery store. Terrence was the only one I let come with me mostly since I don't care if I hurt him and I don't want my family to look after some kid I brought home. "Get anything canned that ain't open." I say. "God damn I feel like I'm in a zombie apocalypse." He says. I roll my eyes. "Shut up." We both bag several things for later then I crack open a beer I've been saving since I left Luke's. "You know how to drive kid?" He nods. "I really don't think we shoulda left." "I really think you should keep your trap shut." I growl, downing like a third of the beer. I pull out the picture again. I hate that I'll never see her again. Or our beautiful baby boy. God I was gonna be a father. I hear Terrence scream. I spin around in time to be hit in the back of the head with a gun. I lose my balance, hitting my knees and dropping my beer as blackness edges my vision. I see a guy loom over me and tie my hands, Terrence shaking and terrified beside him. I struggle to keep my eyes open. He shouldn't have come with me. "It's okay kid." I lie. "We're gonna be fine." The guy kicks me in the head and I lose my grip on consciousness.

*later*

I wake up and judging by where the sun is it's 7:30 pm. Where's Terrence. He was standing at the door to the cell we're in. "We got ambushed sir." I strugglingly sit up. "Don't call me sir." I mutter, anger filling me again. I hate people like them. "Don't worry man, we'll get outta here. Cause..... I'm the last of the military." I shakily say. The door opens. He jumps back, fearfully. I grab his arm and pull him behind me. "Get away from me!" I growl angrily. He laughs. "It's not you we want." He says, pointing at Terrence. He backs up terrified. "Over my dead body shithead." He laughs. "It will be." Huh? "Terrence, we'll let you live but you have to put a bullet in his head." I freeze. He'd never do that! I saved his life! "No fucking way!" He yells, making me breathe a relieved sigh. Good kid. "Fine make it hard on yourself. One dumb kid." He says, shoving me and grabbing him. "Don't touch him!" I yelp, swinging a fist at him. He puts a gun to Terrence's head. I back up. "Let the boy go. He's innocent." "I don't care." He shoves the gun into his hands. He's shaking. "Shoot him or die." I back up against the wall. I take a deep breath. "Take the shot Terrence." I say. He looks shocked. "W-What?" "If it keeps you alive, take the shot and get the hell outta here." "No!" He says throwing the gun down. I dive for it as our captor does. He elbows me in the face but I hold my grip and pin him to the ground with my boot. "Say hey to the devil for me." "I wouldn't do that if I were you." "Oh yeah? Well good thing ya ain't me dick." I whisper, pulling the trigger. "Come on kid, let's get outta here." I get the keys off him and unlock the door. We take off running. I realize we're in the back of that store. A helicopter blows wind up. I look up shielding my eyes from the dirt and dust. "Private?!" I freeze, shocked. "Colonel?!" He holds a hand out to me and I help Terrence into the helicopter first. I heave myself in. "I thought you were dead sir!" "Nope. It's good to see you, soldier." I shakily sit down. "You alright kid?" He smiles. "Never better." He jokes sitting beside me. I close my eyes, exhaustion starting to take hold. "Where are we going, Captain?" "Back to base to regroup and make a battle plan. I can't believe the fight has followed us home." I stare out the window sadly. "Me either sir. And how many more of us is there?" He smiles. "We have an army, Jason." Thank God. The helicopter rocks. Huh? "Mayday! Mayday!" The pilot yells. "We're going down!" Shit! We crash into the earth.

*later*

I hear talking. "Thank you so much for calling me." Oh no! She runs in seconds later. Crap. "What are you doing here?!" I gasp. "Jason, I can't believe you left me like that!" "I didn't wanna take the chance of hurting you guys." I mumble looking away.

Luke's pov

I smile, thanking God Jason's okay. She tilts his chin up. "I love you, Jason." She says, kissing him. He instantly wraps his arms around her waist. "I love you too. I'm so sorry, hun. I was just scared." She smiles. "There's someone you need to meet." I nudge Caroline who was holding their son, born yesterday.

Jason's pov

My eyes go wide when Caroline walks in, carrying a dark haired sleeping baby. "Is that...." "Yes, Jason he's your son. We haven't named him yet." Caroline hands him to me, my hands are shaking uncontrollably as tears form in my eyes. My little boy. "Can we name him Jackson?" I ask. My wife sits beside me. "I love it, Jay and I love you. I'm so glad you're okay." She hugs me. Luke hugs Caroline. I love my family.
