I was feeling slightly exhausted, but not nauseous or completely horrible anymore. Since the thought of puking in public did not seem very inviting, I was quite thankful for that.
On our way through the parking lot towards the mall, Big Rob was reminding us of a few things.
Big Rob "Alright, you know the drill. Stick close and let me know if you notice anything strange or out of the ordinary."
Jess *innocently* "Anything strange? *leans in closer to Big Rob, whispers loudly* Well, there is a Joe among us." *hides from Joe behind Big Rob*
Big Rob *scans Joe up and down* "Oh him? *points thumb at him* Sorry, Ms Jessica but you're gonna have to put up with him for many more years..." *smiles*
Joe "Very funny."
Kevin "She has a point though!"
*Joe and Kevin exchange mumbles*
Big Rob "Ms Jessica."
Jess *nods* "Robert."
Big Rob "How are you on this sunny day? Lookin' tons better than last time I saw you!"
Jess "I'm OK. Thanks." *gives Big Rob a small smile*
Big Rob *putting one hand gently on Jess' shoulder while continuing to walk* "Sorry to hear about your diagnosis but you know, this didn't kill you so it must mean it made you stronger, right?"
Jess *thinking* I love how Big Rob always reminds everyone that life does go on no matter what and that we just gotta keep pushing forward. *smiles*
*out loud* "Definitely! If not even diabetes can stop me, what possibly could?"
Big Rob *smiles* "That's what I like to hear!"
Kevin "Alright, guys, Buglet needs a new cellphone so let's go take care of that first."
Big Rob opened the door for us and we all entered the mall. Dad was right. There really weren't many people there yet at all! Mostly mothers with their toddlers and old people. This mall was also kind of far from the nearest schools so we figured we'd be pretty safe here until about an hour or so after school let out.
Joe *jumps right next to Jess* "AAAnnnnd then Gamestop! My baby sis needs a new Nintendo!" *puts arm around her shoulder*
Jess *giggles* "I was kidding earlier. I don't want you to buy me anything. I'm fine. Except for a phone....I'm not gonna lie, I'd really like having a phone."
Nick "Well, you're getting a new one now...and I figured you would miss your phone like crazy." *grins*
Jess "So I did have a phone? I just remember putting it in my back pocket, and the next thing I know, it was gone. Remember, I kept asking you guys about it but you kept saying 'Uh, Jess you don't have a phone, remember?' So what was up with that?" *looks almost hurt*
Nick "I guess, we just worded it wrong? *shrugs shoulders* You had your iPhone but a day before you passed ou-....were admitted to the hospital, Joe threw you in the pool with your clothes on.."
Jess "...with my iPhone in my pocket."
Nick "Yup. So I really do think he owes you that Nintendo!" *smiles*
Joe "Man, Nick, you stink! She wouldn't have remembered and I would have looked like the super nice big brother by buying her the DS AND would have easily earned the Best Brother Award....that I get every year anyway."
*Jess gives Joe a look*
Kevin "That's terrible, Joe! And I am very sure Buglet would have remembered eventually!"
