"J-Josh, what are you talking about? I'm your boyfriend, Tyler." The boy says desperately.
"Boyfriend? I've never seen you in my entire life." Josh says sitting up, still clearly scared.
"S-stay right here, let me go get your parents. Maybe that'll help." Tyler says, fumbling out of the room and down the hall. Josh can hear this "Tyler" guy speaking very fast and frantically, almost like he's right, and he actually was his boyfriend.
"Is there something I'm missing?" Josh asked himself out loud.
"Really, like, everything looks familiar, except that guy." He says to himself, then everyone walks into his room. His mom, his dad, and "Tyler".
"Josh, honey, do you know who I am?" Asks his mother.
"Yea you're my mom," Josh says pointing at his mother, then points to his father, "and you're my dad," finally he points and Tyler, "I just don't know who you are." Mr. and Mrs. Dun sigh in relief that their son hadn't lost all memory, just for some reason the memory of his boyfriend.
"Honestly, he's done this before, but usually with less significant people, like Mr. Harvey from down the street, and Pam that brought the medicine around while he was at the hospital." Josh's mother tells Tyler.
"Maybe if you would like to spend some time together today, maybe try to jog his memory a bit. He usually remembers people after a while." Josh's father says.
"It's worth a shot." Tyler says, looking Josh in the eyes.
"Josh, honey, you're going to spend the day with Tyler, okay? You need to remember he's your boyfriend, and you've been best friends since you were very young. You'll be okay with him, you're safe with him." Mrs. Dun said to her son. Hearing her say that really warmed Tyler's heart, mostly because his family didn't approve of the relationship all too much.~
Tyler decides the best place to go is to their spot in the forest.
~"Josh is any of this looking familiar to you?" Tyler asks the boy.
"Yea, everything, except you." Josh says looking around.
"Can you think of anything relating to me?"
"I remember asking someone about music, like a tiny guitar and a thing that looks like a moster with black and white teeth."
"A ukulele and piano?!" Tyler almost shouts.
"Oh yea those things, I guess you're not the only thing I forgot."
"You always forget those," Tyler mumbled, "Do you know who you talked about them with?"
"I always thought it was my mom, but I'll take a wild guess it was you, wasn't it?"
"Yea..."~
Tyler spent the next few hours trying to jog Josh's memory of himself, but nothing seemed to work. Soon, it was getting dark, and Tyler knew his parents didn't want him out so late.
"I guess we should probably go back." Tyler said, heartbroken his boyfriend had no clue who he was.~
The next year was spent the same way. Wake up, see Josh, take him to the forest so he could try to remember, go home, get in trouble for always being home late and hanging around Josh, sleep, repeat. At first, Tyler didn't care he just wanted his boy back, but eventually it drained Tyler emotionally. He couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, couldn't write, sing or play any of his instruments. He couldn't take any more.
~
"Tyler, we just got back from the hospital, they say they couldn't figure out why you're the only thing he doesn't remember anymore. I'm so sorry, you're welcome to be with him, but in my opinion, it's best for you to move on." Josh's mother said to Tyler over the phone.
That was it. Tyler couldn't take any more. He couldn't stand to see his boy this way. He could even see how his eyes are more and more dull as the days go by. Tyler could tell Josh not remembering him didn't only hurt Tyler, it hurt Josh too. And Tyler didn't want to see Josh like that anymore. He didn't want to see anything anymore.
