I couldn't believe my ears.

"What do you mean, it scares you?" I asked Cameron.

"It means that I have feelings for you...real ones...and it scares me because....I don't know how to react..." Cameron admitted.

A smile slowly started creeping its way onto my face. Real feelings? I didn't think this man even know what those were, and now he's experiencing them...for me!

"Cameron....this is going to be cliché, but....my feelings for you are real too....if it's any comfort to you to hear that..." I spoke finally.

Cameron's face was torn with confusion. "How? .....How can you have real feelings for me Katie? I'm fucked up...." He said.

"I could ask you the same thing...." I responded.

"How could I not? You're an enchanting woman....different in the most delicious way possible. All of my other submissives I could compare to one another but you stand out from all the rest. You have an effect on me that the others have never had before. I've never wanted to be with one of my submissives for more than what the contract states but, you came along and everything somehow started to change...." Cameron explained.

I smiled as my cheeks burned bright red. Taking a few steps towards him I kissed him gently. "That's how you react to feelings Cameron. You tell me exactly how you feel."

"I still don't know why you have mutual feelings for me....I'm kind of a monster..." Cameron wondered.

I adjusted Cameron's tie. "My feelings are what they are because your personality attracts me. You're mysterious, sexy, and protective. You're enticing and dark at the right times. Nobody else has ever made me feel the way I do about you. These feelings scare me just as much as they scare you, because I never know what to do or say around you, afraid of becoming an ex-submissive...." I replied.

"You're not going to be one unless you make that call....and not submissive....but girlfriend...." Cameron said, running a hand across my cheek.

"Girlfriend?" I questioned kind of surprised.

"Yes. Not just for sex....but romance as well." Cameron breathed hesitantly.

Now my eyes widened. "I thought you didn't do romance?"

"Just because I never have, doesn't mean that I dont know how to do it. And if we're going to work, I have to tend to your needs and wants as well as mine." Cameron admitted.

I smiled now. "I think this is the start of something great Cameron." I answered positively.

He smiled a genuine smile and then leaned down and kissed me. After we unlocked he glanced down at his watch.

"We've been out here a long time. My family is probably wondering where we're at. Shall we?" Cameron said offering me his arm.

Smiling up at him I wrapped my hand around his arm and let him lead me back to the dining room where his family still was, they were just preparing for dessert.

"There you two are, I was afraid you'd gotten lost." Lisa teased playfully.

Cameron and I both smiled and returned to our seats just as the servers dished out plates of red velvet cheesecake topped with chocolate shavings.

I spent the rest of the evening talking with Cameron's family with a newfound energy. I felt really good, like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. Cameron seemed to be in better spirits as well, and as I spoke to his family members I always caught him gazing at me with a look I had never seen him wear before.
