After changing into black shorts and a college bowling t-shirt, I threw on an apron and preheated the stove. I put the chicken on the counter so it could thaw out a bit and began rolling out the dough for my "famous biscuits" as Lizzy called them. I rolled the dough into balls and dashed each with a bit of salt and garlic powder. I would add the cheese after they cooked a little.
Liz had gone to take a shower, for what reason I have no clue. She was a shy girl so I honestly don't know what she'd be going out for, no offense to her, but out of the 2 of us I was considered the more socially outgoing one. Shrugging the thought off I refocused on making dinner and put the chicken in the oven. The heavenly smell soon filled the apartment.
A little while later Lizzy came down the hallway and into the kitchen in a cute skirt and casual-formal top along with some flats. She definitely had something going on tonight.
"Alright, how do I look?" She asked spinning around."Cute. What's the occasion?" I replied.
"I have a date tonight, you know my coworker Robert?" Liz explained.
"Light brown hair, green eyes, kind of a big guy?" I clarified.
"That's the one. He asked me out to a movie and ice-cream tonight, well it was originally dinner and a movie but I told him I wasn't going to miss your chicken and famous biscuits." She beamed.
I smiled at her. "That's funny, because Jon asked me to the same exact thing tonight; dinner and a movie."
"And you said yes right?" Lizzy asked hopefully.
"No, I turned him down, why would I say yes?" I answered.
"You would say yes becasue its time that you started dating again. You're always telling me that I need to put myself out there and talk to people and go on dates, well you do too. I mean what are you waiting for?" Liz replied.
I took the food out of the oven and began serving it onto plates. Looking down at the floor I handed Lizzy her plate: "Waiting for a real man I guess." I admitted finally.
We sat down at our small kitchen table and began eating. Lizzy looked at me.
"You can always pull the real man out of a boy you know." She suggested.
Using my own advice against me. I knew all those inspirational things I told her in high school would come back to bite me in the ass some day. Now she gets to give me guy advice. Great.
"Yeah I guess so." I agreed.
"Oh by the way Katie, I spoke to the landlord today, he said everyone's rent has been raised up in order to pay for building renovations. So we both have to pay a little more now." Lizzy explained.
"What?! I can barely pay my half as it is with just grocery store wages, there's no way I'll be able to pay my half now. I might have to find a better job." I fumed. "But where?"
"I'm sure that there's tons of places that you can apply at that have better wages than Marcs!" Lizzy supported.
"The only places that give really good wages in this town are acting jobs and huge business companies, and I'm not trying to sound like I have a low self-esteem, but theres no way I'm joining the acting career." I retorted.
"Well then what about that big company that owns like half the town? Glass House I think the company is called? Places like that are ALWAYS looking for new employees!" Liz suggested.
"I guess so.... maybe I could pull off a secretary job." I smirked.
Lizzy smiled now. "That's the spirit! Oh shit, Robert is going to be here any minute, I'd better finish getting ready!" She exclaimed and then hurried down the hall to her bedroom.
I collected the plates and began washing them, trying to picture myself as a secretary for some big business tycoon. My thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. Robert probably.
"I got it!!!" Lizzy called strutting towards the door. She greeted Robert and left with him after sharing a hopeful look with me.
When they were gone I felt that it was time to deal with my first big problem: putting in my two weeks notice for quitting at Marcs. I called my boss and arranged it all over the phone. Boy is Jon going to be upset when he finds out. No matter, the first part was done, now for the second part: getting the interview.
I called the Glass House company and some woman's voice greeted me and asked my purpose for calling. Oddly enough, tomorrow was open for the head of the company to interview me for a job. My interview time was at 2:00. I hung up the phone and let out a big sigh.
Now for part three of my get better money plan: have a bomb ass interview with your potential future boss tomorrow.... yikes.
