Teresa - A Rant

This post is NOT going to make me many friends, but it's been on my mind and it makes me sad that there's so many Teresa haters out there. So prepare for a rant. I'm going to address the movie haters first, then the book haters. 

JUST PLEASE NOTE: This is my opinion and my response to the opposite opinion. I have nothing against Teresa haters personally.  I am close friends with some Teresa haters. I respect their opinion and yours as well. I'm just asking you to hear me out.

MOVIE HATERS::

Okay, I can relate to you guys a little more than the book haters but nonetheless I don't understand. 

Teresa acted according to what she thought was right. She used her mind and thought about her past, and how the Flare effected her and how it must surely effect others. And here was a group of people who were offering to FIX IT. Yes, people had died in the process but how many MORE had died because of the Flare? Just by that, who could honestly blame her for the decision she made?

Or even if you can't agree with that, how about this: Teresa was an independent human being. She was never dependent on Thomas, never would be. She was intelligent and perfectly capable of making her own decisions, whether Thomas agreed with them or not. So respect her for the fact that she acted according to her own judgement, instead of blindly following Thomas like a puppy. I mean, come on gals!!! Here we are, claiming to be independent and intelligent and capable ourselves and then HATING on a female who is so and acts so just because she goes against the opinions of a guy you're CRUSHING ON?? I can't even... really? Really?

BOOK HATERS:::

Guys, I don't know at what point in the series your judgement was clouded but it seems that it was. Teresa haters generally make their case that she betrayed Thomas. I would just like to stop them here.

SAY WHAT?

Okay, okay, let's rewind here. WICKED approached Teresa and said that if she didn't make Thomas feel betrayed or else they. would. KILL. HIM.

Now let's consider the reason we all share a mutual hate for WICKED? Hm? Because of the people they killed. Shall I remind you? George and Nick, previous to Thomas' arrival. Ben.  Alby. The 20+ Gladers who died in the final battle with the Grievers. Chuck. I'll stop here since this is where Teresa left the Gladers.

So when WICKED threatens to kill Thomas, what choice did Teresa have but to believe them? I sure as heck would have believed them! WICKED isn't reliable in many things, but when it comes to killing teenagers they have a 99.8% kill rate.

Raise your hand if you would have been heart broken if Thomas would have died. Raise your other hand if you would have hated Teresa if he'd died and she could have stopped it. Are you raising both hands? Well, what do ya know.

So Teresa is told Thomas is under a death threat which he is unaware of and ONLY she can stop it and so she does and you hate on her because her methods HURT THOMAS' FEELINGS?
