A Walk Down Memory Lane

It pains me to share this with you. Physically (my fingers cramped while I was typing), emotionally (it's about Newt) and mentally (the writing is sucky). I found this in an old notebook while going through some stuff. My best reckoning is I wrote this when I was 14. My writing has grown leaps and bounds in the couple years since, and I thought it'd be funny to share it with you, you know laugh at my prior ignorance. But its caused me literal pain not to edit the heck out of this, it's so bad. But I have resolved to share it, so share it I shall.:::::

"Newt."

Ratman said a few other name's but I didn't hear him. My heart sped up, there was a strange ringing in my ears. I was sure my face had gone pale. I was a crank.

What was it I had heard Brenda say? Something about the urge to chew her own fingers off. Yes. I felt it already. No. I was just being paranoid. I shook myself back into reality.

Tommy was talking to me. I didn't know what he was saying, so I told him to bloody slim it. I'm pretty sure I told him that I didn't care, but I was lying. I didn't want to die. Not yet.

I look around the room. There were teary-eyed firls clustered around their friends, and a few guys spread across the room, an I was pretty sure I knew all of them but I couln't put names to any of their faces. I could only think of three names.

Alby. Tommy. Brenda.

Alby. The bloody shank had been my best friend in the Glade. Honestly, his will to live was the only thing that kept me going. His friendship had been the only thing that kept me alive. At time, literally When he died, I probably would have given up if it wasn't for Tommy.

Tommy. The shank had been bloody annoying at first. Always asking questions and how I hate question. But he proved tough, and a leader. A runner in a week. I had to laugh at the though. His will to live exceeded anybody else's. But he was so bloody noble it nearly killed me, and him, at times.

Brenda. I'd liked her from the moment I met her. The only problem was that Tommy had too. The hermana had guys. And I could like her after she a knife to the asian kid.... Minho. To tell the truth, I had worried about her just as much as I had worried about Tommy. Then I found out she had saved Tommy's butt. I didn't worry so much after that, as it was near bloody impossible to save Tommy's butt.

Tears came to my eyes as I asked myself, now who's gonna save mine? I blinked the tear away. Suddenly I wasn't sad. Still scared, but not sad. No, I was angry. At WICKED, at Alby, at Tommy, at Brenda, and especially at Minho, who wouldn't bloody shut up!

This brought me back to reality. Teresa, who had been in our group, was walking away.

"I hate that chick," Minho was saying. Frypan responded, I didn't listen. No. I told myself to stay with it.

"If she's doing it, I'm not." Minho said.

"Me neither." I responded, to get myself talking. "And I'm the one who supposedly has the bloody Flare." I just barely manage to get the world out. Flare. I'm a crank. Flare. I'm a bloody crank.

Frypan was getting mushy about missing his kitched. I don't know how many tiems I had to listen to him in the Scorch and it was getting annoying. So I replied a bit sharply.

"You forget about the Grievers?"

Frypan responded, and so I threw another sarcastic comment at him. BUt I was done, so I walked off, dragging Tommy and Minho behind me.

The next day was a blur. Tommy and Minho agreed, and so did I, that we would escpae at the best moment. but first we had to make sure we remained bloody amnesia patients. Ratface took it surprsingly well.

The other kids, minus Minho and Tommy, were getting hooked up and I saw our chance. Minho's eyes met mine, he saw it too.

But Tommy, always the bloody know it all, disagreed.

"We waited too bloody long." I snapped. Our chance was gone.

That night I made a decision. I wasn't going to become a Crank, because I wasn't going to bloody live long enough to.

The time had come. It was time to make our escape, and boy was I ready. There were 5 guards- armed- and Ratface- unarmed as far as I could tell. Tommy made the first move, on two guards, Minho went for another, and I went for the fourth bloody idiot.

Tommy was overtaken by the 5th guard and Ratface started monologuing, and then I just completely lost it. "Shut up! Just shut your-" I shut up myself when a guard whacked me in the head hard.

In the end, Tommy was taken to get his memories back and Minho and I were taken to yet another bloody cell. When we got there, I sat down in a corner and put my head between my knees. I thought about what happened. It wasn't my words that bothered me. I'd made outbursts like that all the time in the Glade. Even when I was alone in the Maze, I'd randomly have to yell at someone. Just like before I got my limp...

No, it wasn't my words which bother me. It was the feeling. Not anger, like in the Glade or the Maze. More like complete and utter insanity.

I had, for the briefest moment, gone insane.

Sooooo..... there ya go. The deep, depressing thoughts which occupied my brain at fourteen expressed in the worst writing I've read since I don't remember when and probably wouldn't want to talk about it if I did.

I... uh... I should publish this before my inner writer gets the best of me and I start to edit it.
