I opened the door of the fridge and looked inside for a diet coke and a straw in the cupboards, and walked back upstairs to my room.
I walked in to a weird expression on Mia's face as she was looking under my bed.
"Whats wrong?" I ask.
"So, I see you wear poker dot underwear huh?, nice style." She said giving me a mischievous wink.
"I-its not what you think, it's ummm..." I couldn't say her name, it wasn't that I was too embarrassed, but that I had forgotten whos underwear it actually belonged to.
"What you did you forget? Must be too many to remember right? Ugh, don't know what those girls see in you high school jerks." She muted.
I gave her a cold glare. "Pfft, what do you know about girls?" I said rolling my eyes.
"Everything you idiot, because I am one." She stammered back. I couldn't think of a comeback because she was actually right.
"Ugh, lets just get started." I said handing over her drink and straw with a fake smile.
She had a victorious smile on her face, knowing that I had no comebacks and she won the argument.
I grabbed my laptop from my school bag and sat next to her. She cringed a little, slightly shuffling away from me. She got her laptop out and did the same. First she checked her emails and I checked the schools football score and lit up with joy as our team was at the top of the ladder. Throughout those minutes there was silence. I didn't realise until I had finished checking the score board, but Mia didn't mind it was as if I was invisible and weren't there.
"So do you have a boyfriend?" I asked out of the blue, just to break the awkwardness.
"Why do you ask?" She replied curiously
"I was just wondering, so do you?" I questioned.
"No. I've never had one before. Most boys I know are jerks and lets be honest you're one of them."
"Excuse me, I am a nice guy, any girl would want me." I said feeling a little hurt from her comment.
"Yep, you can say that again." She said laughing.
"What?! I am a responsible, genuine, sensible guy." I said complimenting myself.
"Tell that to the polka dot under wear under you bed." She said proving her point with a smile on her face.
"Very funny, it's my mums underwear." I am such a bad liar, I thought to myself.
"What the hell is it doing in your room?"
"Ummm w-well, I offered to fold her laundry for her and it must of dropped." I lied again.
"Well, your mum sure had good style in under wear." She said laughing.
I wanted to change the subject bringing up sports, so she could finally tell me about soccer.
"So do you play any sports, and just to let you know reading is not a sport." I joked as she rolled her eyes.
"No, I don't play any sports. I'm horrible terrible at them all. " She lied, she was a good liar but I knew the truth.
"Come on! You must play something?" I said wanting the phrase "Yes, I player soccer" to come out of her mouth.
Why wasn't she telling me the truth, whats wrong with being extremely good at something and not wanting people to know about it.
Suddenly her phone was started to ring, she looked at who was calling and a giant smile appeared on her face. She quickly got up from the sofa and ran to the bathroom.
"Sorry Kane, I have to take this." She said running out the room.
I wondered who it could be, I heard the bathroom door shut and the words "Mia Brown speaking."
I crept out of my room to the bathroom door. Leaning across, with my ear against the door.
