I let her go. She stood outside my front door and wished me a good night. She didn't notice how weird I'd gotten past the few hours we spent together. We barely communicated and she hardly gave me any eye contact. I wouldn't say the same for myself, I couldn't keep my eyes off her. I'd seen her in a different way now, a way people don't notice her. She had an irresistible spark, that was difficult to describe, but easy to see.
Opening the door of my room, there was a black pen lying on my sofa, Mia had left it behind. I picked it up and walked out my bedroom door, heading for the kitchen. I grabbed my car keys from the kitchen table and hopped in my car. I remember where Mia lives, she doesn't far from Jax's place. Cheesy at it sounds, I felt like it was the right thing to do, return it. I know it's stupid of me because it's only a pen, but I want Mia to know that I care for her and that I can earn her trust.
I pulled up in front of her house as I remembered it to be. I reached down for her pen in my pocket and got out of the car. I laughed at myself asking my self why I was doing this in the first place. I got to the top of the porch and pressed my index finger against the door bell. I stood there, breathing heavily holding my palms tight in my pockets. In seconds, the door unlocked. Standing there was Mia wrapped in a towel, she had just gotten out of the shower. Her hair dangled down from her back with water dripping to the bottom. Her eyes broadened in disbelief, with her knees trembling just like mine.
"K-Kane what are y-you doing here?" She stuttered remaining in a state of surprise.
"You left your pen behind, so I figured I would come and give it back."
Her face went blank then lead to a smirk. She giggled to herself, probably thinking how stupid I was too.
"You know you could've given it to me tomorrow during school right?. Well, thats if you would want to be seen talking to me." She said frowning.
"I just thought you would've needed your pen. What are you talking about? I wouldn't care if people saw my with you, your just like everybody else - human." I said giving her the pen.
"Um, thanks." She said awkwardly receiving the pen from my hand.
"So...." I said breaking the weird silence.
"So... you should get going. It's really late and I need to get changed in my clothes." She said.
"Yeah, your right. I guess I'll see you tomorrow at school then?"
"Yeah, see you then." She said giving me a warm smile and wave.
I looked back giving her a smile and hopped into my car. I watched as she closed the door, as we kept our eyes on each other. It was 6 seconds long, 6 seconds worth of watching her eyes dazzle with the moonlight.
