Heyya guys! This is Seth ^.^ The author one, not the character ^.^ So I thought that even though people might be interested in RPG, they might not know the language. Yes, there IS an RPG language and I sometimes use words from it, such as Mob, IRL, XP etc. So I just wanted to write a chap about the words and their meanings which I probably use in this work ^.^ P.S These are my personal notes so I don't know if they're understandable or not. ㅡㅇㅡ
AI: Artificial Intelligence. Computer. Attribute: Strength, Constitution, Dexterity, Intelligence etc. AoE: Area of Effect, Mass attack with spells. Bind Spot: Place you revive when you die. BoE: Bind on Equip. Item that become soul bound to the player. Means; No-one can steal even if they kill the player. Buff: Temporary boost to character attribute or combat ability. CoH: City of Heroes, group of heroes. Can be used as Main City which players gather the most or Powerful Guilds which are consisting most powerful players. Class: Warrior, Healer, Rogue, Mage.. Close-range damage, Range damage, Healing, Crowd control, Support... Cleric: Typical healing class in D&D style fantasy games. Crit: Critical hit with melee or spells. Crowd Control: Refers to set of spells, temporarily paralyze or stun other mobs or players. An important support. DD: Direct Damage. Debuff: Opposite of Buff, weakens the enemy. Dex: Attack speed, dodge rate, defense. DM: Direct Message. DoT: Damage over Time; Poison, Curse etc. DpS: Damage per Second; Physical, Bleeding etc. XP: Experience Point. Get Ganked: Getting killed by a group. Trap. Glitch: Errors in a game, invisible walls, area bugs etc. GM: Game Master. GMs are characters in a MMORPG who are used by employees of the game creator company. They have absolute control and power within the game. Griefer: Griefers kill players who are level 5-10 when their levels are 50-60. People who enjoy killing the weak. HP: Health, Hit Points. INT: Intelligence; Spell damage, Mana pool. IRL: In Real Life. KoS: Kill on Sight. Characters who are disliked. Loot: Items that are dropped by a mob or Boss. Medding: Resting in order to gain Mana. Mob: AI controlled monsters. Comes from MUD era. Mostly beginner monsters. MUD: Multi-User Dungeon. Newbie: New Player. Nice way to say Noob or Nub. NPC: Non Player Character. Characters which controlled by the AI. PK: Player Killer, Player Killing. Port: Teleportation Station/Area. Power Level: When a 50 level helps 5 level player to make him 20 level or so. PvE: Player vs Environment. PvP: Player vs Player. Rez: Resurrection. To revive a character. RvR: Realm vs Realm. 2 big groups/ guilds fighting. Solo: Playing alone. Yggdrasil: The tree of life. Probably a resurrection area.
