Bruce x Reader

Being Bruce Banner's girlfriend had a lot to deal with but one that was left out for you was being introduced to the rest of the Avengers. The only one at SHIELD who was aware of your relations with Banner was the man in charge of it all-Nick Fury. You had bid Bruce goodbye for the day when he got word that Fury was holding a meeting.

'I'm telling you, he's been acting fishy!' Tony hissed to Natasha as Bruce walked in.

The room fell silent when the Doctor took his seat and Tony seemed to be flashing him worried glances but Bruce had other things on his mind, his plans for that night to be exact. He had been planning this for months and it was finally the day that he would propose to you.

'Listen up.' Nick said marching in as his leather trench coat bellowed around him.

The Avengers turned their attention towards the director and focused.

'There's a mole.' He said making Tony give a side glance towards Natasha that could be interpreted as the look given when someone is right.

She rolled her eyes and nodded to let Nick continue.

'We need you all to keep your eyes open, stay alert and please don't venture on your own.' Nick said before dismissing the meeting that lasted only over a minute.

He sent Bruce a reassuring nod because he knew what'd be coming that night. As the doctor left the room so he could get things ready for his night with you, Tony took it as his moment to lead the pack.

'As Miss Romanoff fails to see, I think Banner is the mole.' He explained.

Steve instantly objected.

'Stark, he's your best friend and if anyone would be the mole I doubt it would be him.'

Tony held his hands up defensively.

'Rogers-all of you actually-as Bruce's best friend I can say he's been secretive lately. I mean, he's been leaving early and when I tracked him-' Tony began before Clint cut him off.

'Tracked him?' He asked in shock that Tony would go that far.

'Yes, I did, but as I was saying, he's been leaving to see this person-' Tony s began once again before being cut off by Thor this time.

'A person? Was it a Lady? Perhaps Doctor Banner is just seeing someone.'

Tony rolled his eyes before once again carrying on.

'Thor, Bruce would have told me if he had a girlfriend so I think we've got one thing left to do.'

'And what is that?' Natasha asked.

'We follow him.' Tony said before the rest of the Avengers were metaled into his plan.

'Are you sure leaving early was okay, Brucie?' You asked as your boyfriend tucked your chair in at the lakeside restaurant.

He let out the laugh you'd fallen in love with during your time together before speaking.

'(Y/N), it's fine. I mean, Fury is the only one who knows about us but he gave me the okay and that's all that counts to me.'

You smiled lovingly across the table at the curly haired doctor before he narrowed his eyes while gazing out the window.

'What is it?' You asked looking over and noticing the sudden ruffle of the bushes nearest to your seats.

'I bet it's just the wind.' Bruce replied not wanting to let the lingering feeling that someone was watching him put a damper on the special question he needed to ask you.

'See, I told you he would meet up with the same girl and that's her!' Tony hissed to the rest of the group.

'You also almost got us caught so shut it for now, Stark.' Natasha scolded back.

The Avengers observed from a far as you and Bruce chatted and laughed.

'Stark, I think he's just on a date and, I can understand why, didn't want to tell you.' Steve finally concluded.

Tony stood up straight and was preparing himself to march towards you two when Clint pulled him back.

'What do you think you're doing?' He snapped.

'Getting to the bottom of the mission Fury assigned us!' He replied before marching onward.

The rest of the team looked at him as if he was crazy but didn't hesitate to follow him out of genuine curiosity. From the corner of his eye, right as he was getting himself prepared to pop the question, Bruce saw an angry looking Tony Stark being followed by the rest of his coworkers as he marched towards the restaurant.

'We need to leave.' He sped out.

You were beyond confused considering you hadn't even gotten you dessert yet but once you followed his gaze you saw why. Grabbing your coat you pulled it on as Bruce threw down more than enough money to cover your bill.

'Not so fast.' Tony said once you'd left the restaurant and the New York air had reached your now goose bump filled skin.

Bruce took a deep breathe and faced his friends.

'You caught me.' He replied putting his hands up.

Looked of horror and pure confusion etched its way across the Avengers faces before Bruce continued.

'This is (Y/N), I haven't introduced you to her because I was going to wait until the next stage of our relationship-' He paused and realized it was now or never that he'd get the chance to ask the woman he loved to marry him.

'(Y/N) (Y/L/N), will you do my the honor and be my wife?' He said skipping the mushy bits and getting down on his knee.

The rest of the Avengers watched in awe or smirking slightly as Tony blinked away his shock. You, however, had zoned the rest of them out and were focus only on Dr Banner.

'I-I-' You tried to muster out proper speech but merely covered your mouth and nodded as tears brimmed your eyes and pooled over.

Bruce stood, tears mapping his eyes too, and slid the diamond ring into your finger.

'Okay, anyone want to tell me what just happened?' Tony finally stuttered out.

Bruce laughed lightly after he'd wiped away your tears and turned to his friends.

'You just saw me propose to my girlfriend and now fiance.'

An abundance of congratulations went around until a single set of clapping hands was heard down the dock. Everyone's attention was turned to none other than Nick Fury with a wide smirk on his face.

'Would you look at that-Banner wasn't the mole after all.' He said raising a brow at Tony.

'Was this all a sham?' Steve asked with irritation evident in his voice.

'Let of a sham and more of a plan.' Nick began.

He walked over to you and nodded his sign of greeting before turning back to the heroes.

'I've known about Banner and (Y/L/N) for a long time now and thought it was time for his team to be aware of them too. However, I didn't want to come out and spill the secret and neither did Bruce so I made my own plan-not even the man of the hour knew about it. Now, here we are.'

Tony looked ready to kill-but not Bruce for keeping the secret, not even you for being a part of this- Nick was the one who would be facing his anger.

'Seriously Fury? Do you know how much other things I could be doing instead of searching for your fake mole?' He hissed.

Nick simply laughed in the billionaires face and was soon joined by Bruce and the rest of the group. Tony, after about five minuted of being laughed at, shook his head with a wide smirk spread across his face.

'You're assholes but-' He turned to you and Bruce before hugging you.
