"Reid!" I laughed as I snapped my fingers in front of boy genius's face. "Wake up pretty boy." Poor guy must not have gotten much sleep last night. He was out since his head hit the couch. "Come on, the team is waiting for us. Spencey!" I cooed in a sweet-as-honey voice.
The brown haired boy cracked one eye open and sighed. "We've talked about that, Y/N. No more calling me that."
"It got you up, didn't it?" I giggled. He grudgingly sat up and rubbed his eyes. "I need some coffee before we start on this case."
I scoffed. "Oh, as if you can even call it that. Normal people use two teaspoons of sugar for a cup of coffee. With you, it's the other way around. We're running late, so you'll just have to do without it unless you hurry your-"
He was pushing me out of the plane before I could finish my threat.
We arrived at the crime scene (what was left of it anyway) shortly after stopping for Spencer's mostly-sugar coffee. The case was in some small town in Massachusetts and the local officers couldn't handle this big of a case. We profiled the bomber to be a divorced male in his late 30's. He's a loner with little to no human interaction. The last two victims he murdered were killed in the same explosion, but there was barely anything left of the bodies to identify them.
"Tell me something good baby girl." Morgan's voice pulled me out of my reverie. Garcia's chirpy tone filled the room through his speakers, "I'm not going to waste any time then and launch right into the goodies. Okay, this unsub is good at what he does, but your favorite technical analyst is better. As you lovelies know, this guy has been keeping the victims for at least six hours and watches them through a live feed before he, you know. Well, I found a secluded warehouse next to where the identified victims lived and the unsub's home address. Sending it to you now."
"Thanks, Gorgeous." Morgan ended the call. "Reid, Y/L/N, go check out the house and see if you can find tapes of the feed or anything that could possibly identify the victims. Everybody else to the warehouse." Hotch directed.
After securing our vests and drawing our guns, we walked quietly up to the front door of the double wide. It was slightly cracked open and I tensed, glancing at Spencer. "Ready?" Nodding, I reached out and pushed the door the rest of the way open. Reid went in first, checking the kitchen which was the only room on the left. He motioned that it was clear, coming up behind me as I walked down the small hallway where there was a door on the left and a door at the end. I checked the one on the left, and once I saw it was clear, I moved to turn around towards Spencer when I felt a pain at the back of my head and I fell forward. I was out before I hit the floor.
When I woke, I opened my eyes but immediately shut them again due to the bright light making my head pound. The white walls, white floors, and white everything was making it hard to see. My mind felt like it was stuffed with cotton and wrapped up in fog. Groaning, I lifted my left arm to my face to try to rub the mist away, and felt a strange weight. No, no, no, no. The strange weight was a digital watch that read 9:59. The glaring numbers were
a reminder that a bomb would go off in mere minutes. Scanning the room, I saw Reid crumpled in a corner, a small amount of blood oozing from his head onto the pristine white floor. The dark red against the creamy white was a sickening contrast. "Reid!" I called as I shakily stood and stumbled over to him. "Please don't be dead. Come on Spence, wake up! Please!" I held in a sob as I lifted his head off of the floor and gently laid it onto my lap. His chest rose up and down, and he had a pulse. Slowly he opened his eyes, squinted and looked around. "God, no." He muttered. Catching a glimpse of the watch on my wrist, Reid tugged it closer to his face. "We have eight minutes. Crap. There's no way out and there's no way the team will be able to find us in less than eight minutes. Oh, God. We're going to die." Not caring about the pain, he sat up and put his head in his hands. "There is still so many things we still need to do, so many cases we need to solve. I-I haven't really lived yet, Y/N."
"Hey, hey, hey." You took one of his hands in yours. "It's going to be okay. The team is going to find us. They're probably on their way right now. Don't they always save our butts?" I spoke softly and calmly even though my heart was beating against my ribs and my eyes were stinging with unshed tears.
"You know this time is different." His voice trembled.
"I know, how about you tell me a statistic, huh? Or a fact I don't know." I said in a soothing tone- as soothing as you could get when you knew you were going to die.
Spencer looked at me and the corner of his mouth tilted downwards, disapproving of my method of distraction. His cheeks were wet with tears and he had the most heartbreaking expression on his face, but he still played along and choked out a fact. "In the United States, 304,912 books were published in the year of 2013, including both new titles and re-editions."
I lightly bumped his shoulder with mine. "A book fact! My favorite." I cracked a smile just to see that expression leave his face, even if it was for a second. He glanced down at the watch on my wrist and swallowed. Ten seconds left. He rubbed a circle in my palm, and we shut our eyes. Counting down from five four, three, two, one...
"Y/N! Come on, wake up!"
I sat up clutching at my chest with one hand and squeezing someone else's hand with the other. My eyes my eyes quickly found the person's face and I sobbed. "Spencer! I'm sorry!" I quickly let go of his hand which was turning white and pulled him in for a hug, breathing in the familiar scent of old book pages and pumpkin. "I thought I'd never see you again." Tears trailed down my face and fell onto the shoulder of his button down. He shushed me and rubbed my back in slow circles. "It's okay. I'm here. I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere."
