Sam:
"Hey, so how's the hunt going?" You asked while on the phone with him one brisk fall morning, fingering a button of the plaid shirt that you stole from the beautiful brown eyed man you called your husband. What you really meant was, when was he coming home? Ever since you had gotten married last autumn, he had been looking for ways to get out of the hunting black hole and have that apple pie life that he has always so desperately wanted. Finally, he decided that this one was going to be the last. He promised you he'd be fine, but you couldn't shake the feeling that something bad was going to happen. "It's going a little slower than usual, but it looks like I'll be home sometime next week." The love of your life answered you in a soft voice, letting you know that he missed you too. You sighed, wanting him beside you and thinking you must be crazy for thinking that his voice sounded like it was literally right behind you. You shook your head, turning around towards the door to take the garbage out. You stopped in your tracks, eyes widening and your jaw dropping. You snapped your phone shut, not needing it anymore. There Sam was, standing right in front of you, his dimples showing as he smiled at you. Finally, all the missing him and worrying about him was over, and he was exactly where he should be.
Castiel:
You had been praying to him for a while now. He usually answered you pretty quickly, but this time he wasn't responding. It had you worrying even though you knew the blue-eyed angel was certainly capable of handling himself. You just couldn't keep your mind from wandering to the thought of your angel being hurt.
You got ready for another cold night without him and went to bed. The next morning you woke up to the smell of rain and the sound a heartbeat. You opened your eyes to the sight of Cas, wrapped up in his arms like you were each other's lifeline. It felt so.. natural, like he was who you were supposed to wake up to every morning, like your bodies were made to fit perfectly together, like he was snow and you were fire because you balanced each other out.
You locked your eyes to his baby blues, and you smiled because he was the only person in the world who made you feel whole, and he was finally home.
Dean:
You had always felt safe in his arms. He was always there to protect you and love you, no matter what. So that must be why you've had a hollow feeling in your chest ever since he left. It's just a routine salt and burn. He should be back in a day or two. But you found that after so many nights of sleeping next to him, you can't sleep without him. You hadn't slept at all the previous night, and you knew you weren't going to tonight so you turned on the television set and settled in for a long couple of hours ahead of you.
You were at the end of a Rocky marathon when you heard a car pull into the driveway. You jumped up and pulled back the curtain to see headlights and a black 1967 Chevrolet Impala. You raced to the door and tried to unlock the lock, but your heart was in your throat and your fingers were shaking, and why wasn't this darn door opening? You finally got it open and went out on the front porch to see none other than Dean Winchester staring at you from the bottoms of the steps. He stretched his arms out wide, saying, "I'm home."
You ran to him, jumping into those inviting arms like you hadn't seen him in years when really it was just two days ago. Your legs were wrapped around his waist and his hands were tangled in your hair, and the two of you just held onto each other like water droplets clinging to a window. His lips were pressed against your shoulder as he whispered, "I'm home."
