Me and Griffin's car ride home consisted of scoffs and scolding coming from the troll. While I faced the window, looking outside, trying to come up with a lie that will hopefully get me off the hook. Then Griffin interrupted my thoughts. "I have a idea that will not land you in a months worth of grounding, but there's a catch that can benefit me." I look at him, with my left eyebrow raised. "And, why would I help you? We don't even like each other." I say, and turn back to the window.
Then he rolled his eyes and shrugged his shoulders, and smirked. "Then I guess you never want to talk to Ace again." He says, and I think about it. My mother believes anything Griffin says, and if she ever finds out where I really was, she would surely not let me see Asa again. "What's the idea?" I asked, unbelievable. My brother would rather get something out of it than being generous and helping me out with no cost. He smiled, and looked at me for a brief second before putting his eyes back on the road.
"Here it is. I tell our parents that Cara had to work and couldn't drop you off, so you were forced to walk, and that's why it took you so long. But in return, you give me 100 dollars from your pay from Petland, so I can go to a car racing show with my pals. Deal?" He asked, and I laugh a little. I shook my head. "Why would I give you 100 dollars?" I asked. "Do you really wanna break up with your little "lover boy", Ace?" He asked, being extremely clever. I sigh and reply, and I can't believe I even said it. "Deal."
We kept quiet for the rest of the time we had in the car, and when we got home, we jumped out the car and walked to the front porch. I waited while Griffin, unlocked the door. My mom, Cheri, immediately started yelling, but not for long. "Mom. The reason Hailee was late is because, Cara couldn't drop her off. So she had to walk. Good thing I picked her up, right?" Griffin says, and her face of rage, transitions to a face or sadness and pity. "Oh, my poor baby..." She started, and went on and on about how she is sorry that she was angry. Good thing is, I was not in trouble and could still hang out with Ace and my friends, bad thing is, I had to give the troll 100 bucks. Overall, our idea went as planned.
