You are taking the place of Saria in this oneshot.

"Hey!" You called to Link from below his tree house. You and him were close friends, and neighbors. A few minutes ago you had seen a fairy fly into his house. You wanted to see what had happened! Link was the only child who hadn't gotten his fairy. This made him upset half of the time. He was also bullied by Mido and his gang.

Mido's jealous of Link. That's what you thought. Mido obviously had a crush on you, but you didn't like Mido back. Sure, he was a nice guy if you got to know him, but he was a bully. You had a crush on Link. Link was so nice and sweet, even if he was sad and grumpy a lot. Link hated Mido. You don't blame him, but you did think Mido and Link should talk it out and possibly become friends. Your, Link, and Mido's relationship was like a circle of love and hate. When did this even start?

"I'll go in there and hit you with a pillow if you don't come outside!" You shouted to the sleepyhead. The neighbors could probably hear you, but oh well. Finally Link walked outside and talked to you from his treehouse balcony.

"Y/n! You won't believe what just happened... I'll make you guess!" Link exclaimed, waving his arms in the air excitedly. He started to climb down his ladder, quicker than you had ever seen him do so. When he reached the bottom he ran over to you. "Guess!" He yelled again.

"Link! You got a fairy! What's her name?" You smiled, overjoyed for Link's achievement.

"How'd you know?" He tilted his head, questioning you.

"Well, one, I saw her fly into your house. Two, she's right next to you."

"Oh. Well anyways, her name's Navi! Hopefully Mido won't tease me now that I finally have a partner." Link said, smiling.

You didn't want to tell Link the truth about Mido. That Mido bullied him because of you. Then he would know that you liked him. He would also lose his hopes for a bully-free life. You decided not to say anything. After a few seconds of silence, Link started the conversation again.

"What's weird is that apparently The Great Deku Tree wants me to go see him. Does that normally happen when Kokiris get fairies?" Link asked you.

"No. No it doesn't. That is weird."

"Oh well. I have to go see him now, so I'll hang out with you later. Bye y/n!" Link smiled and waved at you. Then he ran off towards the path to The Great Deku Tree.

You waved back to Link and then went to your house. For a few minutes you just sat on your bed, thinking about Mido and Link's situation. Then you decided you would wait for Link by The Great Deku Tree path and tell him what you thought. You ran out your door and to your destination.

When you got there you waited. And waited. And waited. What the heck? Where was he? You decided to go check on him, even though you may get yelled at by The Tree. When you got there, you saw a terrible sight. The Great Deku Tree was telling Link that he would have to go to Hyrule Castle and meet Princess Zelda. It was rumored that Kokiris died when they left The Woods. You didn't want Link to die!

But then you saw something worse. The Deku Tree shriveled up and turned gray. What was happening? You tried not to cry. Both The Deku Tree and Link we're going to leave you. Before Link left for his death trip out to Hyrule you needed to explain everything to him. You also wanted to give him your most prized possession.

You ran to your house and grabbed your ocarina. You played your favorite song for one last time, then you put it in its case and closed it. Link should have this. Maybe it would make him feel more at home. Then you walked to the bridge that leads to Hyrule Field and you waited for Link. Soon enough, he was here.

"Oh, hi y/n. I did expect to see you here. In fact, why are you here?" Link asked you.

"Link... I- I overheard you and The Deku Tree. He's dead, isn't he?" You replied.

Link nodded. "Yeah... I'm sorry... I tried to save him. And now he wants me to save the world or something. I- I'll probably die."

"I don't want you to die!" You yelled. "Link, I don't want you to feel alone out in the world either. Take this... It's dangerous to go alone." You handed him the package that your ocarina was in.

"Y/n, this is your most precious belonging!" He said after opening the bag. "Are you sure?"

"I'm positive." Then you paused. "Link, I- there's something I want to tell you..."

"By all means, go ahead. You can tell me anything y/n."

"Well, I know why Mido bullies you. It's because he likes me!" You were taking really fast, your heart beating a mile a minute.

"Wait, why would that effect me?" Link asked confused.

"Because, Link, I- I like you." You looked down at your feet, not wanting to see Link's reaction. Your hands were behind your back. You were so nervous.  When you finally looked up, you saw that Link was silently crying. You felt like crying too.

Then Link ran over to you and gave you a hug. You were surprised at first, but hugged back. "Y/n, I'm so sorry I didn't realize sooner. I'm so oblivious, to like, almost everything." You felt Link's tears flow into your shoulder.

"I'm sorry for not telling you, Link. Just, please, take care of yourself out there." You said, almost crying.

"Y/n, before I go, I just want to say one thing. You... You were a wonderful friend and neighbor. And if I were to stay longer, you would be the best girlfriend ever. Y/n, I love you." Link tightened the hug.

This pushed you over the edge. You started to ugly cry. "I love you too, Link. Please, whatever you do, don't die..."

"I'll try not to..."

You both stood, hugging each other, for a long time. Eventually Link put his arms back by his side. "Well, y/n, I guess I have to go now. But I don't want to say goodbye. So, see you later alligator!" Link smiled and waved to you.

You managed the best smile you could and waved back to him. "Take care panda bear..." You said sadly.

Link turned around and without looking back, he crossed the border of The Woods and Hyrule Field. Little did you know, as soon as you were out of distance, Link broke down into a pile of loud tears. And little did Link know, you did the same thing.
