Along a road that some architect paved,
We met on a crossroad unaware.
Alert was I for the dangers that craved,
For an innocent soul to walk to its snares.My eyes that were set below,
Sensed not the dangers that swarmed around!
Wrong was I to not look beyond before,
For the crippling waves that raged abound!Tossed broken drenched and lost,
So met we again on that crossroad.
This time my eyes were up but moist,
With the tears that peers gifted o God!I wasn't ready for one more fraud;
So I shut off the doors and threw away the key.
For fear even you'll leave me on the road,
I tried running and letting you be!But without even knocking you blew away the walls,
And Just your glimpse began easing the pain.
I tried to drown that feeling but o yes I did fall,
But it was on a pillow and it never proved vain.I loved how he stole looks at me every chance he got,
Though I told myself it was not me he loved.
I loved how he never grew tired of talking to me a lot,
Then I told myself I can never be loved.I loved the way he found time for me when he had none!
I tossed it aside saying 'it's a coincidence.
I loved the way he waited at the stairs and the fun!
But saying he wasn't mine I built myself a fence.O God I loved everything he did and I said love's fool's gold;
O quite a fool must have I been then to chase just that in the cold!
