A/N: Captain Swan is not together yet.

It was winter in Storybrooke, a very cold winter. After work, everybody went home fast, wrapped into thick jackets and scarves, trying to keep themselves as warm as possible. Luckily, it seemed that even in winter bad witches or any other wicked creatures didn't want to destroy anything or kill anyone. Yes, it seemed that this winter would be a peaceful winter for Storybrooke.

Of course, everyone was looking forward to the weekends. Finally they could spend some time as a family without running away from something or chasing any monster. For the Charmings this was the time to spend time with their daughter Emma, which they hadn't been able to do in the past. But for Emma, weekends weren't that comfortable. It was not that she didn't love her parents and her little brother. In the contrary, she loved them with all of her heart. She just wasn't used to spend time together as a family, most of the weekends she had spend alone in a orphanage. And now as she knew who her parents were, she kind of got overwhelmed.

That's why she was glad that Killian Jones always came for a visit at the weekends. They went outside for walk and Emma had a little repose from her parents. To be honest, it wasn't just because of her parents that she felt good while they were walking. No, she really enjoyed these walks with the pirate, even if they sometimes just silenced. But it was a peaceful silence, not an awkward. Sometimes she asked herself if the pirate meant more to her than just a friend. But every time she thought about it she shunt her thoughts aside. No, she was afraid to fall in love again, she didn't want to suffer again, but also didn't want to let others suffer because of her. So maybe it was better to keep their friendship just like it was. Even it was difficult for Emma to ignore her heart that made a little skip every time Hook was around.

Saturday came, and like always, the Charmings started to tell a story about their past together. Of course they wanted their daughter to know as much as possible about them, but for Emma it was kind of too much. It seemed that every story she had heard yet ended with Snow and Charming kissing each other passionately. This wasn't exactly what Emma wanted to know, but her parents seemed to think otherwise. So Emma was more than relieved when the doorbell rang during a way too detailed description of their first real date. Or better of the goodbye-kiss of that date.

When Emma opened the door, she smiled. Yes, this was her salvation. He was her salvation. Hook was standing there with a small grin on his face, leaning against the doorframe. "Hey! Let's go. Fast." Emma whispered, while making a sign with her head towards her parent's and rolling her eyes.

"I would like to rescue you from them," Hook started to say. "-but outside there is a horrible blizzard which seems to get worse every second." Only now Emma noticed his nearly completely sodden clothes and the snow on his jacket. "I barely got here without being blown away, so it may not be the best idea to go for a walk." he joked and grimaced while trying to wipe away the snow on his clothes.

"I don't wanna interfere in this conversation - " Suddenly, Mary Margaret appeared just behind Emma and scared the blonde woman, who hadn't seen her coming. "- but why don't you just spend an afternoon inside. I just looked outside and Hook's right, the storm is looking really bad. I can't even see our car which is just a few metres away. You both don't want to get a cold, do you?"

Emma rolled her eyes. Sometimes her mother seemed to be a little bit overprotective and wanted to butt into every conversation Emma was having, especially when it was with Hook. But in this case she was right. It didn't seem a good idea to go outside now. "Yeah, why not. Come in." Emma said and gave Hook a sign to enter.

The pirate nodded thankfully, took off his wet shoes before finally entering the flat. Mary Margaret was sitting on the sofa again, next to David, and both were talking to Emma's baby brother Neal who was lying in David's arms, sleeping soundly.
