Session #6 | Writer's Block
Hello everyone!
It's been an unimaginable busy week, but it doesn't mean that we're on back and on fire!
Let's start off by explaining a little bit about Writer's Block. Certainly, all of you must have felt like you've lost a little motivation to write, didn't know what to write about, or had all these ideas and just couldn't find time in your busy schedule.
The thing is; when these things take place, a lot of the times you need to give yourself some time.
It doesn't mean sit around with your book, pen and laptop for hours - that would just be a waste of your energy and time.
Give yourself a moment to think and reflect on what your situation is. Do you have too much work to do? Can't find time to write? Just stuck as to how you should start a chapter?
Or do you not want to write but feel the burden of your readers waiting for an update?
We're sure you've felt these before. The thing is - you CAN'T.
And to bring yourself out of the aura of can't to CAN is hard. But here, we've gathered a plethora of tips for you to follow/help guide you:
- Ditch Wattpad; sounds a little crazy doesn't it? Why, if you want motivation to write ON Wattpad, would you DITCH it? The interesting thing about this is that if you take time off of Wattpad for a week/two/or even a few months, you'll find yourself away from the stress you feel (at the moment) and feel relaxed. And soon, you'll find yourself gravitating towards writing once again when things quiet down a bit in your mind and you organize your time.
- Embark on a Reading Marathon; this doesn't have to be necessarily on Wattpad...you can do this with hardcover books and find some inspiration.
- Read your story like any reader; this is one of the great things to do if you're stuck - read your work over like a normal reader. Don't pick out mistakes in your writing, but more like understand what you've written so that when you come to the point you're stuck, you come up with another idea.
- Music; sometimes, while you write, plug in your headphones and pick out a tune you want your story to go alongside. It's great inspiration.
- Join a book club; get involved in reading other people's books, giving feedback, and perhaps it could bloom ideas for you!- Write, write, write; a lot of the times, you might feel lazy. In that case, you don't have to write your story - feel free to write about anything, or any genre for a change.
- Get out of the house; don't stuff yourself in a room. That's not going to bring out any creativity in you. You'd rather go for a walk outside or hike on a trail nearby!
So we hope that these tips have helped you! Try these options and let us know what you think about them!

2. What do you do when you have writer's block?
3. If/When writing becomes more of a task to you than a pleasurable activity, how do you beat it? What do you do?These questions are due by August 13th, 2016. Please have them done on time!

This is probably the second last workshop we're going to have before we start our awards. Unless we're able to fit in another workshop, that is! So get your assignments done early and we'll have more content and material! Especially with our busy lives, we're trying to fit in time to write our books as well...and let's just say, that's not working out THAT well (lol)!
Until next time!
