Kara's P.O.V
A few hours later
When I wake up it takes me a few seconds to remember everything that has just happened. I can feel my heart start to ache like a large hand has wrapped around it and is squeezing. I slip out of bed and take a deep breath, pushing the pain to the back of my mind.
I pull on some jeans, a crop top and a white poncho kind of thing and shove my feet into come black heeled ankle boots. I go into the bathroom and do my hair and make up then head outside of my room and down the stairs.
As I'm walking I notice the dark mood surrounding the pack house. All the people that would usually look up and grin at me as I walk past are walking around with their heads down.
I mind link to the whole pack as I walk into the kitchen.
"Full pack meeting in two hours."
Is all I say.
I hear murmurs of agreement in my head.
I grab and apple out of the fruit bowl and sit down at the bench. I hear someone come in behind me. They must spot me because their steps falter.
I turn around to see Connor standing not far from the doorway.
"Hey Connor." I say.
"Hi." He says in a cautious voice.
"No need to tiptoe around it. I'm okay. We're having a pack meeting in two hours." I tell him as he walks further into the kitchen.
"Yes I heard. What are you going to say to them?"
"Talk about the funeral arrangements. Say that they all should have a day off for my parents memory. tomorrow as well" I tell him, watching as he pours himself a bowl of cereal.
"What about you? A days off as well?"
"No. I have arrangements to make. Funeral and the my coronation."
"Maybe you should take another day. Start tomorrow."
"I've waited long enough. I grieved yesterday. Today my mind is for the pack and only the pack. I'll plan and I'll talk to people. Comfort those who need it."
"Okay." He says, nodding slowly.
I stand up to head out when Connor's voice stops me.
"Kara?"
"Yea?" I ask, turning around to look at him.
"We're here for you you know. Always."
"I know. And I love you all for it." I say, smiling. I walk over to him and wrap my arms around his waist. He hugs me with his free arm.
I let go and send him another smile then head out the door.
For the next two hours I do my homework since I had some left to do and I figured it was best to do it before I started with plans.
Finally it's time for the meeting so I head downstairs and outside to stand on the edge of the porch, looking out at the lawn. People slowly come out, most in groups, and come to stand in front of me on the lawn. The group gets larger until it's obvious everyone is here.
I clear my throat a little. "Hello everyone. You all know me already so I'll skip the introductions and get to my point. Our pack has suffered a loss. A great loss. The loss of our Alpha and Luna. My parents. And I can see that we are all feeling the weight and sorrow of it. I'd like to say that my parents were great people and they touched the hearts of all of us. So in their memory for the next two days we will have days off and on June 10th every year will be a pack holiday." I announce, loud enough for everyone to hear.
Everyone is nodding and some people seem to be wiping tears.
"The funeral will be held in a weeks time. I will be starting the arrangements today. If you have any requests please feel free to talk to me at any time. And also I know how much my parents meant to you all. They meant the same to me. So I'd be happy to talk to anyone about them. Or comfort anyone. That's what I'm here for. Anyway that's all. Feel free to go if you wish."
People start milling away but a few come up to me and give me teary hugs.
"Could I help you with the funeral arrangements. Carlene and I would be happy to help you with any of it." My father's Beta, Oliver says, his arm around his wife Carlene's waist.
Oliver is my dad's long time friend. They grew up together and were best men at each other's wedding. Oliver was like an uncle to me and my mother and Carlene were great friends. They're both smiling sadly at me.
"I would love that actually." I say, smiling and nodding at them.
"How about we take this to the Alpha's office. To your office." Oliver suggests. I nod and the three of us walk inside. I turn back just before we walk in the door and see Connor, Claudia, Ryder and Elliot standing in a group looking at me. I send them a smile then head inside.
We head upstairs to my father's old office. I sit behind the desk and Oliver and Carlene sit on the other side. My heart squeezes painfully as I look around the office. All I can think is I'm sitting in his chair like it's my own.
"So what are you thinking for the funeral?" I ask Oliver and Carlene when we are all settled.
"Well you know how much the both of them loved the grounds here. I think we should have it here. And bury them here. We'll have to find an appropriate place but it seems right for them." Carlene pitches in, holding Oliver's hand between both of hers.
"That it a good idea. Where should they be buried?" I ask them. Despite my best efforts these words come out tightly, my heart squeezing even more.
"Perhaps in the clearing out the front of the property, past the flower fields in the woods." Oliver suggests. I nod in agreement.
"We can organise the other arrangements and things over the next few days." I say.
They both nod.
"We should also consider your coronation. It should be soon after the funeral so we can get things settled around here again." Oliver says.
"Yes of course. I was going to wait until after the funeral to think about that though. One thing at a time you know." I explain.
"That is a good idea. We should leave you now. We'll talk tomorrow." Carlene says, standing up and heading out the door, pulling her husband with her.
The door closes behind them and I let out a sigh.
I look around the office and see lots of photos of me and my parents. Scattered around in frames across the book shelf and a few on the desk.
I turn away from them and instead turn the large leather chair around so I'm facing the large windows. I let a few silent tears fall and I look out but quickly wipe them around when a knock comes at the door.
I turn my chair around again. "Come in."
The door opens and I'm not surprised by who's on the other side.
"Ryder. Come in." I say.
He comes in and sits down on one of the arm chairs in front of me.
"What's up?" I ask.
"Nothing just came to check on you. Figured you'd be making arrangements so I thought I might sit and help." He offers.
I look and him and smile.
"Sure."

Hey guys. What did you think? Kara's stepped up a bit now. Thinking of flying a head in the next few chapters to the funeral so it's not too dull or anything but let me know what you think of that and what you think should be happening in the next chapter. I'd love to here from you and if you have any ideas for where the book goes from here then send me a message! It would be cool to talk to some of you! Comment and vote. Thanks x
