Rejected me. BIG mistake

Chapter 28

Ryder's P.O.V

"Well?" I ask Kara.

"There's a lot of things I need to say to you but there's something I need to say before anything else." She says, rushing her words.

"Which is?" I ask impatiently.

"I'm sorry." She says quietly.

I stop fidgeting with my hands and stare at her.

"What?" I ask.

"I'm sorry. For, well, everything. Everything I've done in the last few months. For choosing James over you. And not listening to you about Travis. Because really you were right about everything and I was insane not to listen to you. So yea. I'm sorry." She says, finishing with a sigh.

I sit there and stare at her for a few seconds.

"What made you say all of this? Why now?" I ask her.

"I had an interesting conversation with someone who made me see that everything I thought about you and James and Travis, was wrong."

"So what exactly does this mean?"

"It means that I like you. A lot. More then even I can fathom. In fact. I think that I can sum it up."

"How's that?"

"I love you. I love you Ryder. I have for a while now. I didn't truly know it until now. But now that I do I'll tell you over and over again. Even if you don't feel the same way. I'll scream it at you if you shut me out. I can't live any longer with you not knowing how I feel."

"So you say you're in love with me. How do I know you're not lying?"

"You can ask the moon goddess herself if you have to because I'm not lying. I was lying. I was lying to myself, and to you, about how I really felt. But I'm done with that."

"And all of this means what?"

"It means that I want to be with you. Forever. I want to wake up with you beside me and fall asleep wrapped in your arms. I want to see you smile and laugh because I said something stupid. Or narrow your eyes at me because I made fun of you. I want all of it."

I stare at her with eyes wide.

"I don't care how long it takes. I'll make all of this up to you. If you let me." She says, quietly.

I let out a breath and wait a few seconds before I say anything.

"Kara. I do want to be with you but I need to know that you're sure about this." I say, leaning forward to rest my elbows on my knees.

She stands up and comes to kneel in front of me so our faces are level. She then tentatively reaches up and cups my face with both of her hands.

"I'm sure. I'm so sure." She says, smiling a little and stroking my cheek with her thumb.

I smile back at her and lightly hold her wrists.

"Alright then. Let's do this. Let's be together." I say, nodding.

Her smile grows until it's a full blown grin.

"Really?" She asks me.

"Really." I say. I move my hands from her wrists to either side of her face and pull her towards me.

Our lips meet and sparks fly like electricity flowing between the two of us.

When we finally pull away both of us are smiling and a little out of breath.

"So I think that now we are finally together that we should have our first official date." I say, moving a stray hair to tuck it behind her ear.

"I like the sound of that." She says, nodding.

"I was thinking swimming in the pool." I suggest.

"I also like the sound of that but I feel that I have to be a slight party pooper." She says, smiling sheepishly.

"You want to invite the others." I say.

"Yea. Only for the swim. We could hang out with them then after we could go to my room and watch Netflix or something." She says.

"Alright I can agree to that. Only because I like you friends though and because I really want to watch Suits." I say, pretending to frown but failing miserably.

"Suits it is. Come on let's tell the others." She says, standing up and pulling me up with her.

I grab her hand and slip my fingers between hers. She looks down at our hands and grins.

"Let's go." I say, tugging her hand and leading the way downstairs.

We find the others in the lounge.

They all look up at us when we enter the room and their eyes immediately fall on our clutched hands.

Claudia smiles first and lets out a little squeak.

She sprints over and wraps her arms around Kara.

Kara almost falls at the sudden weight that crashes into her but manages to keep her balance and hugs Claudia back with one hand while the other stays clutched in mine.

Claudia lets go still grinning and wraps me in a tight hug next and when she's finally done hugging she steps back and turns to Connor and Elliot.

"Do you see that? Right there? They're holding hands! They're together! Finally!" She exclaims, pointing and mine and Kara's joined hands.

"Yes Claudia we can see their hands." Elliot says calmly. Connor nods in agreement.

"But this is big. I've been waiting months for the two of you to get together." She says, pointing at the two of us.

"Congratulations guys." Connor says to us.

"Yea congrats." Elliot says.

"How can you two be so calm about this? This was my ship! I shipped you two. And now you're together. I'm so happy." Claudia says, almost jumping up and down.

"Ship?" I ask.

"Yes ship. Goodness you people are so out of touch with social media. Anyway I am super happy for the two of you." Claudia says.

"Thanks. We're pretty stoked too actually. But that's not what we came down here to talk to you guys about." Kara tells them, glancing over at me.

"Yea. We were thinking we should all spend some time together and go for a swim in the pool outside. Relax for a little while." I say.

The others all nod quickly.

"It sounds like exactly what we all need after the last few months." Elliot says.

Claudia and Kara head upstairs to get changed whilst me and the guys all head off to our separate rooms to get changed.
