Chapter 9- Are we safe?

Zoe's POV
I woke to the sun shining in my face i got up and seen some clothes on a cheer i guess they are for me i went to the bathroom to use it i also used the shower i finshed and put the close on. I walked out and got some coffee i went to set by Rose she also had coffee i miss my brother he's been with the others on the highway T-Dog comes in the front door.

"They're here" he told us

I sat my cup down and walked out the door Daryl was by his bike i ran up to him and hugged him he wrapped his arms around me i kissed hem he kissed back i didnt care that the others saw.

"How is he" Dale asked Daryl had put me down i hugged Mike after

"He'll pull through thanks to Hershel and his people" Rick said

"And Shane" Lori said

"We'd have lost Carl if not for him" Rick said

"Thank God we were so worried how'd it happen" Dale asked him after they hugged

"Hunting accident that's all Just a stupid accident" Rick said

I couldn't stay away from Daryl we was having a thing for Otis he died trying to help Carl but I don't believe Shane it was something in his eyes.

"Blessed be God father of our lord Jesus Christ praise be to him for the gift of our brother Otis for his span of years for his abundance of character Otis who gave his life to save a child's now more than ever our most precious asset we thank you God for the peace he enjoys in your embrace he died as he lived in Grace Shane well you speek for Otis" Hershel said looking at Shane

"I'm sorry" Shane said

"You were the last one with him you shared his final moments please i need to hear i need to know his death had meaning" Patricia said crying

"Okay we were about done almost out of ammo we were down to pistols by then i was limping it was bad ankle all swollen up "We've got to save the boy" see that's what he said he gave me his backpack he shoved me ahead "Run" he said he said "I'll take the rear I'll cover you" and when I looked back" Shane said he got a rock and stoped

"If not for Otis I'd have never made it out alive and that goes for Carl too it was Otis he saved us both if any death ever had meaning it was his" he said looking at Patricia she nodded and Shane placed the rock down

We all went our separate ways Daryl kissed me and said that him and Mike was going to talk to Rick and the others about Sophia I said ok and told him to keep my brother safe i started helping the others get camp set up but I stayed were i could hear what they were saying.

"How long has this girl been lost" Hershel asked

"This'll be day three" Rick said Maggie came with a map they layed it on the car

"County survey map shows terrain and elevations" Maggie said

"This is perfect we can finally get this thing organized we'll grid the whole area, start searching in teams" Rick said looking at the map

"Not you not today you gave three units of blood you wouldn't be hiking five minutes in this heat before passing out" Hershel said to Rick

"And your ankle Push it now you'll be laid up a month no good to anybody" he said looking at Shane

"Guess it's just me i'm gonna head back to the creek work my way from there" Daryl said what no not alone

"I can still be useful i'll drive up to the interstate see if Sophia wandered back" Shane spoke

"All right tomorrow then we'll start doing this right" Rick said

"That means we can't have our people out there with just knives they need the gun training we've been promising them" Shane said
