Honey [On Hold]

10. Grumpy

Confused Matthew stared at the girl in front of her than to her mom. "What?"

"You never listen to me." Emma mumbled walking into the kitchen with 'Lisa', leaving Honey and Matthew staring at each other.

Awkward silence built up between them making Honey uncomfortable. She fiddled with her fingers while she looked at the decor, waiting for him to say something.

Matthew sat down on the last step and stared at her. "Wait, so your actual name is 'Honey'?"

"Um, yeah," Honey answered, "It's the only name I've ever been called."

"But don't you think it's kinda odd? Like your name is like a nickname for a lot of people." He told her, causing her to give him a small glare.

"No." Honey spoke, "Don't you think it's weird your parent call you Matt but you don't know if that's your real name?"

"It is my real name," Matthew stated standing up.

"Well, so is mine." Honey replied glaring at him.

She crossed her arms and walked into a different room. She found the living room empty but with the television on. She sat on the sofa and watched tv for a while.

"Hey..." A  low voice said.

Honey adverted her eyes from the television, towards the voice. Just at the other end of the sofa, she saw Matthew standing there with a sheepish look on his face.

"I'm sorry about what I said earlier," Matthew apologized, walking around the sofa to sit close to her.

She stared at him and waited for him to continue.

"My dad said I shouldn't have said it because you have a unique name and that I shouldn't have gotten angry at you." He told her, giving a sheepish smile. "I was just grumpy."

Honey stared at him for a little while, then gave him a small smile. "I'm sorry too."
