Chapter six: Here's my secret
(Cameron's POV)
I swear, I could have killed that guy without a bit of remorse. What was his name?
"Frank!" Shreeked the girl in the passenger seat of the Jeep, waking up to the heavy grunts Frank made as I knocked his lights out. I picked Frank up (now a pretty unrecognizable, bloody heap) by the collar of his expensive, studded, leather, desighner jacket and took him around to the passenger side. I pulled the girl out of the Jeep and put him in her place. I could tell both of their type. Rich, snotty, preppy, thinks they're the best at everything and they're better than everyone else cause they have a few more bucks to spend.
The whole air of them just pisses me off.
"You better drive. He won't wake up for a while and if you're still here by the time i walk inside of that house, the police will be called and you'll both be arrested for under aged drinking. that's right, sweetheart. I can smell it on you too. I suggest you wipe that look off your face and get moving," I told the girl. She was tall, and blonde, and had model like features.
I figured I'd let her drive, though. Drinking and driving can't be harder than walking in stiletto heels while you're drunk, and she was doing that just fine. She slammed the driver's door shut and i turned my back to the scene as she drove away.

Kayla was more than upset. For the next three hours, all she did was sit there. She didn't even say anything except "I'm being really depressing. If you want, you can go home. I don't want to depress you, too," and "Thanks for rescuing me,"
Even when I tried to start conversaion with her, she just shrugged her shoulders. She didn't even sleep as the night crept on, the moon steadily moving across the nightsky, soon to be replaced by sun.
"Let me take you up to your room, so you can get some sleep," I tried. She just shook her head.
"Can I fix you something to eat?"
She shook her head.
"Water? Soda? Fucking vodka? Anything, Kayla. Anything you want, I'll go get it. Just..." I trailed off. I was starting to get mad, and that's the last thing i wanted to do. I don't want to take out my anger at life on the only good thing that's ever walked into it.
She looked at me with her big, green eyes. Their usual sparkle was clouded with sadness and there were unfallen tears brimming at her eyes. "I'm sorry I'm being such a wimp about all this. Really, I am. I just.... That was my best friend in the passenger seat. They went out and got drunk together, then what? Did they remember me? And in their entoxicated heads think it was a good idea to drive all the way here and see me? I mean, Frank said he had a family reunion to go to in Atlanta, so maybe that's why he came. Just stopped in to say hi. I just.... I wish I..."
"You're forgetting one, extremely bad thing he did to you," I told her. She made a confused face, but it wsn't as cute as her normal confused face. Usually she tilts her head, and gives me her perfect Bambi eyes. But now it's more like just a glance at me. "He hit you, Kayla. He knocked you down and smacked you in the damn face. He deserves to die,"
"Oh. I'm not really worried about that. Everyone gets mad sometime. It's better for it to be directed towards me than anyone else,"
Here's what i wanted to say.
Can't you see how important you are? Can't you see how much you matter to the world, and how wonderful you make everyone feel around you? Can't you see that you're what makes my world spin and I could never stand to loose you?
But here's what i really said.
"You're wrong,"
She just shrugged again.
I got to my feet and walked into the kitchen. I figured there was one thing that'd make her feel better; Tea. She loves tea. She says it lifts her spirits when it's raining, and it warms her heart when it's snowing.
As I pulled down the tea kettle from where it lives in the cabinet above the stove, i thought really hard.
There's a lot of reasons that I've fallen for Kayla Grace. So, to make things simple, I'll just name ten.
1.) She's got this weird way of sensing when something is wrong. And once she figures out, you better believe she'll make you fess up. She doesn't even ask, or give you any kind of curious stares, but that's what gets in your head. You realize that she's trying so hard to make you feel like you don't have tell her anything, but you know she wants to know and the guilt will just eat you alive. I can't figure out if she does this on purpose or not.
2.) When she looks up at the stars at night, she gets this look on her face... kind of like she's in a whole other world for just a second..
3.) She's so hopefull. She's so... stupidly optimistic and hopeful. She looks for the best in everything, and builds from there. Even if she has to lie to herself, she still believes that everything wil turn out just the way you want it to.
4.) When it's raining outside, she feels sorry for the bugs and lets them in the house.
5.) She has a bunch of freckles on her right shoulder and she has names for each one of them.
6.) When you do something she doesn't like, she pouts. And when she pouts, she looks really damn cute.
7.) I love how when she gets cold, the tip of her nose gets really red. It makes me wanna kiss it, and warm it up.
8.) How she fits into me perfectly when she's hugging me. She's so small ant tiny up against me... It's hard not to feel protective over her.
9.) Her smile could light up a room.
10.) When she looks at me, it's like she thinks the world of me. It's like she thinks that I'm some hero, and that i can save her life.
But... Here's my secret.
She saved mine.
