First thing the next morning I checked the messages Riley had sent me throughout the night. It seemed we got about the same amount of sleep. At least once an hour she had texted to tell me about what she was seeing from her apartment window.

It made me smile to think that she had thought to tell me all that was going on, but when I realized she probably hadn't slept I was saddened. Riley was a heavy sleeper and for her not to be able to sleep meant she was thinking about something.

imasucker: Are you okay?

I asked.

MyOnlySunshine: Of course!

She responded almost immediately.

imasucker: Why didn't you go to sleep last night?

MyOnlySunshine: I did. I was just thinking.

imasucker: What were you thinking about?

MyOnlySunshine: I don't know if I talk about it right now.

Riley had taken a full five minutes to type the message above, which bothered me just as much, if not more than the content.

imasucker: Should I be concerned?

MyOnlySunshine: No! XD Everything is good. We'll talk about it when I get home.

imasucker: Okay, have a good day in London!

MyOnlySunshine: I will! Thanks. I love you Peaches.

imasucker: I love you too. <3

After sending my last text I set my phone back down on her dresser and proceeded to get dressed and ready for the day.

I picked out a yellow New York Tee, black skinny jeans, and laced up my knee high combat boots. I checked myself in the mirror before heading out to the kitchen. My parents had already gone to work for the day and I was left to my own devices for the day. This may sound discouraging to some people. However, I kind of liked not having to answer to anyone but myself.

I took a bowl from the cabinet along with cereal then I retrieved a spoon and the milk. I combined the elements and sat with them on the Matthews' couch. Tv in front of me was winning at our staring competition. I willed it to turn on with my brain since I was too lazy to get up and grab the remote.

The room was silent for a long time with only the sound of my cereal crunching to interrupt it. So quiet that when the pager for the front door buzzed I jumped and spilled half a bowl of cereal in my lap.

"Hey Maya. It's me Farkle. Can I come up?" Farkle's voice came through. I growled and stopped over to the pager.

"Come on up if you dare." I was soaked and these were new jeans. Farkle was going to pay!

I waited for him with my arms folded across my chest. The genius pushed the door open hesitantly and peeked his head inside.

"Farkle you get in here and see what you did!" I yelled.

My friend creeped into the room with a scared look on his face.

"What did I do?" He asked with a squeak.

"I was sitting minding my own business, eating my cereal like a normal person, and then you rang up and scared me! Now I'm covered in milk and Lucky Charms! Which is ironic because it's not lucky that I spilled them all over myself!" I ranted.

A sly smile snaked across Farkle Minkus' face as he observed the scene and watched me reenact what happened.

"You know you're cute when you get fired up like this." Farkle noted.

"Hey, watch it!" I pointed at him on my way to the kitchen where I could get washed up.

"I'm sorry Maya. I'll buy you a new pair of jeans if that makes you feel any better." He tried to console.

I thought for a second.

"Make it two and you have a deal." I bargained. A sly smile of my own crossing my lips.

Farkle laughed at me but nodded his head in agreement.

"Okay! Two pairs of jeans it is!"

"Who's a good genius?" I mocked him, petting his perfectly spiked hair.

"I am!" The boy cheered, making me smile.
