Time was passing quickly and March was already coming to a close. I was sitting in the common room one Saturday morning when Fred and George came bounding down the stairs happily.
I was lying on the floor with Alex on my stomach Izzy was flicking through one of her books while Padfoot lay on her legs. George grabbed Izzy by her arms and put her in his shoulders cause her to squeal with excitement. Fred wandered over to me and lifted the squirming baby from my stomach causing me to sit up.
"Eh, what's going on?" I said standing up. "We are going to go to Hogsmeade today" George said happily "don't worry, we've cleared it with McGonagall the monsters can come too" Fred said causing em to release the breath I hadn't realised I'd been holding in.
"Okay well let me grab a few things" I said heading towards my dorm. I grabbed a jacket for each of us a bottle for Alex a changing bag and a few toys to occupy them before heading to where the twins were waiting.
"Let's go then"
-------------------------------
We were in honeydukes buying sweets. Fred and George where buying for themselves where as I was buying for me and the golden trio.
Exams where 10 weeks away atleast and Hermione had lost the plot! She had already started drawing up study schedules and colour coding all her notes.
Harry and Ron had already had enough of her and her nagging. She kept telling them how they need to pass these exams to get into second year which I thought was a load of toss.
Unfortunately, the teachers seemed to be thinking along the same lines as Hermione. They piled so much homework on us over the Easter holidays they weren't nearly as much fun as the Christmas ones. It was hard to relax when Hermione was sat next to you reciting the twelve uses of dragon's blood or practicing wand movements.
We exited the sweet shop and that was when Alex started getting cranky. "You guys go on, il take them back up to the castle" I told the boys but they insisted that they took Izzy with them. I nodded and headed back.
I arrived back to the common room tired and hoping that I could put Alex down to bed when I met The golden trio I smiled hoping they would let me continue in my way to the common room but they stopped and grabbed my arm.
"Guys where are we going?" I questioned. "The library" they said simultaneously just like Fred and George did.
We alls sat down at a table and just before we could talk Ron looked up "Hagrid? What the bloody hell are you doing here?"
We all looked round to see the half giant looking kind of shift "Jus' lookin'," he said, "An' what're you lot up ter?" He looked suddenly suspicious. "Yer not still lookin' fer Nicolas Flamel, are yeh?" "Oh, we found out who he is ages ago," said Ron impressively. "And we know what that dog's guarding, it's a Sorcerer's St --"
"Shhhh!" Hagrid looked around quickly to see if anyone was listening. "Don' go shoutin' about it, what's the matter with yeh?"
"There are a few things we wanted to ask you, as a matter of fact," I said suddenly interested in the who topic "about what's guarding the Stone apart from Fluffy --"
"SHHHH!" said Hagrid again. "Listen - come an' see me later, I'm not promisin' I'll tell yeh anythin', mind, but don' go rabbitin' about it in here, students aren' s'pposed ter know. They'll think I've told yeh -- eh since when are you in on all this?" He turned to me asking. "I'm a curious and mischievous girl Hagrid where there's adventure, I'm in" I said receiving grins from the rest.
Hagrid shuffled off. "See you later!" I yelled happily "What was he hiding behind his back?" said Hermione thoughtfully. "Do you think it had anything to do with the Stone?" I asked eagerly. They just shrugged
"I'm going to see what section he was in," said Ron, who'd had enough of working. He came back a minute later with a pile of books in his arms and slammed them down on the table.
"Dragons!" he whispered. "Hagrid was looking up stuff about dragons! Look at these: Dragon Species of Great Britain and Ireland; From Egg to Inferno, A Dragon Keeper's Guide."
"Hagrid's always wanted a dragon, he told me so the first time I ever met him, " said Harry. "I beat he had a dragons egg behind his back there" I said clicking my fingers.
"Well we will find out tonight then won't we" Harry said. I stood up and told them I would meet them later and that Alex really needed a nap. So this time I headed back towards the common room.
-----------------------------
Fred and George arrived back shortly after and I told them I had something to do that evening and that I needed them to watch Izzy and Alex for a short while. They were very interested in what I had to do but I couldn't tell them, not yet anyway.
An hour later the golden trio and I headed down towards the small wooden cabin. I hadn't been to bag rids but before so I was kind of excited. We knocked on the door of the gamekeeper's hut but were surprised to see that all the curtains were closed. Hagrid called "Who is it?" before he let is in, and then he shut the door quickly behind us.
I looked around to see that there was only one room inside, hams and pheasants hung from the ceiling. a fireplace stood at the wall most with a copper kettle used to boil water. In the corner, a massive bed with a patchwork quilt over it.
It was stifling hot inside. Even though it was such a warm day, there was a blazing fire in the grate. Hagrid made tea and offered us stoat sandwiches, which we refused.
Harry got straight down to business and asked Hagrid about what Else was protecting the stone apart from fluffy, but Hagrid was not budging he said he didn't know himself and that we already had too much information on our hands.
"Oh, come on Hagrid, we only wondered who had done the guarding, really" Hermione said in a flattering voice.
Hagrid sighed " Well, some of the teachers did spells O' course"
"Hey Hagrid? Mind if I open a window I'm sweltered in this heat" I asked fanning myself with my hand.
"Eh... Can't sorry" he said nervously glancing at the fire place. I followed his eyes towards the fire place to see a huge black egg. "What the bloody hell is that" I said slightly frightened when it gave a little bit of a jump.
"Ah," he said nervously. Ron stood up and crouched down over the fire to get a better look. "Where on earth did you get it Hagrid, It must've cost a fortune"
"Won it, down the pub" he answered back. I stared at the egg curiously wondering what Ron meant about it being a fortune. As I stood up and stepped closer to get a better look at it when I heard a huge crack. Something was moving inside and there was a funny clicking noise.
Suddenly the egg split open and a baby dragon spring itself out onto the table. It was super ugly. It's spiny wings where huge compared to its tiny body and it had bright orange eyes and a long nose.
Hagrid looked so happy he might have cried but I think he realised that his hut would never be able to hold a fully grown dragon.
------------------------
We eventually made it back to the castle just before midnight, arriving in the common room to find a tired looking Fred carrying a very upset looking Izzy.
He looked quite relieved to see me. "What's wrong? is she okay?" I asked worriedly. "She's got a fever been crying since you left, I took her to the hospital wing and Madam Pomfrey made her some medicine to calm her down. Her fever is already disappearing so she'll be fine."
He sat down next to me on the couch cradling Izzy gently and she began to doze off finally. I cuddled closer to Fred linking my arm with his and resting my sleepy head on his comfortable yet muscly shoulder eventually dozing off into sleep.
