Chapter 4
~~Alice
I walked outside, preparing myself for the terror of school. I really didn't want to go. The warm spring air made me feel a little better. I put my head down and my hands in my pockets. Avoiding the world. It was a rainy day outside, just how I like it. The sun was beginning to peek out of the clouds.
"Wait up!"
I stopped walking immediately, a smile crossing my lips. Kyle rushed to my side.
"Hello, lovely" he said casually, coming up to my side. He held my waist and kissed me gently.
"Hi" I said pulling away after a moment.
We walked hand in hand, slowly, trying to make the moment last.
"How did you sleep?" I asked him, hoping it was better then mine.
" I didn't really sleep at all" he admitted. His head was down. He tensed up.
"Hey," I said and turned to him, "it's okay, don't be upset"
He must have realized he hurt me because he recoiled and let go of my hand. Inside I was screaming at him and myself. He shouldn't feel bad. I sighed.
"I don't want to go to school" I said trying to make him forget.
"Then let's just not go, our parents won't know or care! we can just go to the park or something" he said, his eyes sparkled with amusement and hope.
"I like the way you think" a smile crept on my lips.
He steered me left towards a local park,
The spring air was damp and cool, the flowers were starting to blossom, and the last of the snow was melting. We arrived at the park.
"I'll race you" I yelled at him running towards the swings.
He was startled, then ran. he quickly caught up using his long legs. he came up behind me and grabbed me from my waist, swung me around and placed me behind him, and quickly continued to run.
"Why you little!" I giggled as I started running again,
After a while, I caught up, and passed him, sticking my foot out and tripping him simotaniously.
"Take that!" I laughed.
He got up, a smirk on his face,
"Oh, I'll get you"
Our laughter filled the air, my skin was warm, my heart was beating fast. I arrived at the swings first.
"Beat 'cha" i said smugly.
He slowed to a trot and came up beside me, taking the swing to my right. I pumped my legs, and went as high as I could go. I felt like I could touch the sky, a free feeling overwhelmed me. for once, I was safe, happy and free.
"I don't mean to make the mood bad.." Kyle started, his voice was low, "but-what did my father do to you last night..." he bowed his head in shame.
"Well, as you know, he took me home, and followed me up to my room. I couldn't move. his eyes. they-they gazed upon me, he drank me in slowly, I- I was unbelievably scared. and then, he told me to 'play along'..." I started.
Kyle tensed up. His feet struck the found. Stopping the swing entirely. His knuckles turned white as he gripped the string tigtly.
"Kyle, calm down. okay?" I got up and moved towards him. He looked up at me with concern and a hurt expression. I took his hand gently and led him to a shady tree where we could sit. There, I held him close, and continued.
