Chapter 13
~Rich
I stood just outside the padlocked doors, slipping they key into the metal that was sending needles into my hands as I held it. The lock clicked and pulled open, allowing me inside. I looked behind me, knowing no one could see through the thick brush that separated my secret and the main road. I slid my body through the small crack I allowed myself, casting myself into the darkness that the windowless barn offered. My boots crunched on the ground as step by careful step I got closer to the sleeping girl I was keeping captive.
I peered over the meter high wood that enclosed the space she was restrained too. Shackles were nailed to the ground, I followed the chain, straining my eyes to see her leg poking out of a corner. She was lying sprawled out. One leg over the other, she used her hands as a pillow for her frail head. Her hair was wild around her, knots were crowning her head. Her body was covered in small bruises and dust, she was chillingly stunning, even when she looked like an animal.
"Alice," I hissed,
Her legs moved slightly, making the chains clank together in protest, then she disappeared all together. I could hear her heavy strained breath, the way she sounded made my body go cold. I stretched out my hand to hold her, I got hold of her small frail hand, she was cold to touch, but I couldn't let go.
Slowly, as the suns rays crept up from behind the horizon, I saw more and more of her, tiny beams if light sprung through the cracks in the walls. I leaned my weight against the plywood, it groaned in protest.
I kept my gaze locked on the girl who cowered in fear, where was her knight in shining armor now? I smiled at her, letting the emotion wash through her skin.
I felt a small vibration in my pocket, I knew it was the signal. I didn't need to read the text from Eddie to know it was time to leave.
I climbed over the small wall and landed close to Alice, I towered over her, her small body looking like a speck of dust in comparison. I bent down and clutched her arms with one of my much larger hands, I used the other to undo the locks, her arms were free, her wrists were red, crusty with blood, she had been trying hard for the last two weeks to get free, I chuckled at the thought. Next, I unlocked her ankles, they were just like her wrists, but smoother. I quickly clamped my hand around her mouth, silencing each potential scream from escaping her lips. I moved forwards, using her as my human shield if sorts, although nothing was coming to attack us. Within seconds, she was flung like a doll into the back of my truck and being thrown against the back door as I stomped aggressively on the gas pedal.
"Where..?" her voice was soft and raspy as she let out the question.
I kept my eyes on the road, this was going to be fun. I drove around, but not aimlessly, the car passed the old apartment that they stayed in,
"And here is where that self-destroying jackass took you, hurt you, broke you," I spoke in a booming voice, her body cowered and shook.
Tears slipped down her cheeks, she shut her eyes and clenched her fists, she was beginning to realize the truth.
I parked the car in front of Eliza's house. I glared at the backseat, the girl glared back.
"You know what's here, don't you?" I asked.
"Kyle" she breathed her voice matched the worried expression that was across her face.
I pointed a finger to the house, she watched with large eyes,
"Please don't hurt him!" she cried.
Anger welled inside of me, she still cared after everything that had happened? My fists clenched, my blood boiled. I was shaking. What happened next I didn't have control of, I opened my eyes again to see myself peering over Alice, her body was limp, her eyes closed. Blood trickled out of the wounds I had created on her pale body, I held out my hands, blood covered the tan skin. I shook my head frantically,
