Chapter 5

~~Kyle

I watched silently as her lips quivered. I held her tightly, reluctant to let go of her. I heard her scream while she was asleep, or whatever she was, but she chanted 'no, daddy stop.' what had he done to her? I had to know, but I knew I couldn't ask my angel.

The door creaked open.

"Why, Alice. you've grown!" the mans deep voice traveled slowly from his lips.

I noticed similar featured in their faces, their noses small, skin tone pale, eyes the same chocolate brown. It was obvious they were of some relation.

He slid closer us. To her.

I stood up to block him. He simply shoved me off the the side like a was a tiny animal.

"Alice, is this the abusive boyfriend of yours that Eddie told me about?" he asked.

"Abusive?" she repeated, questioning.

"Did you just say Eddie?" I asked, my anger swelling up like a balloon.

"Mmyeah, he's my buddie, we've been close real long, why, I have some of my best memories with Eddie and this beauty here." He tapped Alice on the head. instinctively she cowered away, hiding her face as she cried silently.

Alice's eyes grew wide with shock.

"Oh Alice," her father whispered "your just as beautiful as you were before..." he wiped the falling tears. I watched as she cowered away from his touch. It was at that moment, I understood.

"Don't touch her, maggot." I growled, getting up off the ground.

"Oh please," he scoffed in reply.

I was on him in seconds, pinning him to the ground. I was filled with rage, and nothing was going to stop me from getting this bastard away from her.

"Run!" I told Alice.

A noise came from under me, he was laughing! a very restrained laugh, it sounded more like coughing.

"I wouldn't do that Alice, my friends are waiting downstairs. It's their turn next," he let the words glide off of his tongue smoothly, without a second thought, I raised my fist. I was going to his this guy so hard, he couldn't breathe.

I stopped in midair. I was so close to beating his ass.

"I'm going to kill you for what you did, bitch!" my fathers harsh words echoed in my head.

I was not like him. I never would be.

I let my hand drop to my side and got off of the man who hurt Alice so terribly. His shocked expression soon turned into amusement.

"I want you to get out." I said sternly, venom filled my words.

He laughed.

"You gonna make me, kid?" he challenged.

"No." I replied smugly.

A plan was forming in my head. Alice and I were going to jump, together. We wouldn't be bothered by this jerk for long.

I leaned towards Alice and explained the plan. her eyes lit up ever so slightly. She nodded in agreement.

"Alice, I'm done here." I started, walking towards my window. Looking back I saw her follow me.

"Oh how this world can be cruel." she sighed.

Together we stood on my windowsill, two stories up.

Looking back, I saw the mans dumbfounded expression. He couldn't believe us, his daughter and her boyfriend were going to jump out the window. He looked paralyzed but that was okay, he wasn't going to mess up my plan.

Then I stared at Alice. She was tense, maybe excited, scared, happy? it was difficult for me to tell, she wore a mask of steel. Her pale face looked even paler behind her red hair, which was everywhere because of the wind. I wanted to tell her I loved her, I needed her. She would know some day. I squeezed her hand a little tighter, she looked at me and smiled, a sad smile that broke my heart into a million pieces.

Completely in sync, we took a deep breath. Our heart beets going over a mile a minute inside our chests.

We jumped.

"ALICEEE!" I heard her father say as he rushed to the window, seconds too late.
