Chapter 7
~~Kyle
Alice quivered in her chair as I sped off towards the airport.
"He really hurt you. Didn't he." I looked at her quickly while I spoke before returning to the road.
She nodded silently then averted her gaze towards the window. Her hair casting shadows on her pale face.
"He won't get us," I assured her and took her hand in mine.
She was cold to hold, I remembered when she fell a few days ago. Her screaming, crying, shivering. The memory scared me so much, I slammed on the brakes in fear that it would happen again. The two of us lurched forward violently.
"Kyle!?" Alice gripped my hand and turned towards me with her eyes wide.
"Your so cold." I whispered. "how can I help? I can, I..I. last time this happened, you. You just, you could have. I could have.. " my words faltered.
"Kyle, I'm fine" she said slowly, almost unsure herself.
"T- that's what you said last time." I told her.
I wasn't sure how I could help her, but it couldn't happen again, seeing her like that made me give up all hope. What if this happened again? What if her father hurt her like that again. How would I stop him? I clenched my fists in anger.
'Maybe next time she will be dead," my demon spoke then chuckled devilishly.
My hands relaxed and I looked at Alice
"Oh god, Alice!" I screamed.
I saw her, slumped over in a very small heap, covered in crimson blood to match her hair. Her face even more pale then usual, her eyes a faded brown. She looked so dead. A knife rested in my shaky hands. I couldn't handle seeing her like this I opened the car door, desperate to escape. The air pierced my skin sharply. I tried to scream, I wanted to run, to not look back. I backed away slowly, fear stricken across my face. I fell backwards on something, and crawled away desperately. I knew if I didn't get up I couldn't escape, I stumbled as I tried so hard.
"Kyle!" she screamed and ran around the side of the car too hold me upright.
What just happened?
Her hands were still cold. She seemed to have trouble holing me up. Since she's so small, she seemed like an ant. Her cold, hard determination surprised me. She veered me towards the passenger side and sat me down softly. She hesitated as she got up, and walked around to the drivers side and got in.
"What just happened to you?" her concerned voice broke the silence.
"You. I saw you, Alice. You were sitting right here, but, but you were dead. DEAD!" I stammered and tripped on my words.
"But I'm alive" she sounded confused.
"You don't understand." I shook my was hysterically " I killed you"
She recoiled.
"You need sleep" was the only thing she said before she started the car once again and set off onto the abandoned highway.
I decided to listen to her, I slouched back and closed my eyes. The last thing I saw was Alice, her brown eyes looking at me in a strange way, with her hair a pinned back in a ponytail. I wondered what she was thinking. I couldn't keep my eyes open much longer, slowly I watched the world go black..

I saw my mother in front of me for the first time in years. Her bleach blond hair was turning white, she carried herself like she used too. Strong and proud. Her earlobes held pearls like she always did. Her chestnut brown eyes scrunched up since she was smiling softly at me. Her face was starting to wrinkle up, but she still looked like she used too. Beside her was Liam. He stood tall compared to my petite mother, his brown hair was cut short. He had a round face like my fathers, his eyes dark and menacing. He almost scared me.
