Sierra sat up quickly, scrambling to face him.
"Okay, yeah. Shoot," she told him, pausing the movie. Loki bit his lip.
"Alright. How much do you know about what happened between me and Thor last year?"
"I know a little. I know that Thor got in trouble and was banished to Earth, and you tried to take over Asgard and kill Thor, but he got his powers back and beat you," she said.
"That's not quite everything," Loki said. "You are missing some of the most important parts. Mostly the ones about me."
"Oh, obviously," she said sarcastically. "Do tell." Loki took a deep breath.
"Thor and I were brothers. We were raised together; we did everything together. Thor was always...better than me. Bigger, stronger. People liked him more. I never really cared, mind you, I preferred to stay inside. I love to study and read and practice magic. Odin said that since Thor was older than I, he would take the throne. However, I was clearly more suited to it and I was the only person who saw Thor for who he really was. He was selfish, arrogant, and stupid. But he was to become king, and there was nothing I could do about that. I could, however, postpone it. On his coronation day, I helped three Frost Giants from Jotunhiem into Asgard, so they could attempt to steal the Casket of Ancient Winters. I knew the destroyer would stop them, but it would at least stop the ceremony."
"So, the Jotuns came in, the destroyer did its work, and the coronation was stopped. But Thor was angry and convinced me and our friends, the Warriors Three and the Lady Sif, to go to Jotunhiem and stop them from entering Asgard again. We went, but we were out-matched. The only reason we got out was because Odin showed up and took us to Asgard before we were all killed. Thor was banished for his actions, and I trust you know that part of the story." Loki paused for a breath, but she nodded for him to go on.
"The day after Thor was exiled, I went to the weapons vault and picked up the Casket. Much to my surprise, my skin turned blue, and I looked like a Frost Giant; one of the Jotuns. Odin found me, and I confronted him about this strange occurrence. My skin eventually faded back to its original color, but I knew something was wrong. Odin admitted to stealing me from Jotunhiem as an infant and raising me as his own with hopes of one day using me to make peace with the Jotuns. I was actually the son of Laufey, King of the Frost Giants. It all made sense as to why I would never become king. Odin could never let a Frost Giant rule Asgard. So, I tried to prove to Odin that I could be a good king. I tried to kill Thor with the destroyer, and let Laufey into Asgard and then killed him, saving Odin's life. I also used the Bifrost to try to destroy Jotunhiem."
"But Thor came back. He stopped the Bifrost, by merely breaking the rainbow bridge, and he and I were falling off of it when Odin appeared and saved us both. I told him what I had done, but he looked me in the eye and told me that I had been wrong. So, I let go, and I fell into space. I thought I would die. In fact, that was my intent. But I landed in yet another place, a dark, evil planet. A thing, I'm not sure I could call him a man, found me, and after a while, told me of a plan to take over Earth, and steal the Tesseract. He wanted me to lead his army. I accepted, after being promised I could rule the realm like I always wanted. But he said that if I failed, he would find me and torture me. His exact words were 'I would long for something as sweet as pain'."
"So that's is what happened with the Avengers a couple months ago. You came here and tried to take over," Sierra said. Loki nodded before finishing his story.
"As you know, I failed, and Thor took me back to Asgard and I was locked in prison to be left for who knows how long. But one day, after about three weeks, a man came to see me. He broke into my cell, took me by surprise, and hit me across the head. Next thing I knew, I was in another cell, chained to the wall. The man turned out to be him; the thing that made had me attack Earth. He hurt me, tortured me, and threatened to kill me, my family, everyone. Sometimes he'd give me time to heal, and then torture me again. It was the worst pain I had ever felt, and it went on for weeks. He told me that I could never be saved, that nobody was looking for me, because an illusion made it appear that I was still locked up in Asgard. Finally, he stopped and threw me down here to die, but you found me instead." Sierra studied at him carefully.
