Mia had gone home early in the morning, after finding out that Liam was okay. She was exhausted from the lack of sleep she had been getting lately. Today she was to have to the house to herself, Scott had the PSAT and Melissa had to work.
"Melissa, before you go to work,"Mia said running down the stair. "Can I ask you something?"
Melissa stopped and turned in the walked way. "Yeah, are you okay?"
Mia nodded. She was asking if Liam could come over, but it fell wrong. "Can Liam come over?" Her voice slowly died.
"Of course, Mia! This is your house too." Melissa said, turning, then before she took off. "Mia, I think of you as my daughter, and I want you to be safe. Scott told had you feel about him. Do we need to have the talk?"
Oh God.
Mia hadn't even thought about that yet, considering they made their relationship official yesterday while the were stuck in a well. Liam was also on the verge of death, having sex was least of her worries.
"I'm good, Melissa."
She left with a worried look on her face. But Mia was responsible, she wasn't going to let anything happen. They were just going to hang out. Mia had texted Liam, and soon he was on his way.
"Hey," he said, entering the house. They were in the kitchen by the door, no one uses the front door. Mia said hello with a hug.
Liam was okay.
The hug was so natural. She was just as tall as him, her head was leaning on his shoulder.
"What do you want to do? We have the day." Mia said as she pulled Liam to the living room and up the stairs.
"Um... I don't know. I want get to know you, this is a thing now." Liam said as they entered her room. "I don't want to do anything too big since, you know, I almost died yesterday. How about twenty questions?"
Mia realized how charmingly cute her boyfriend was. Standing there, right next to the bed that was shoved up against the wall; he was shrugging, too. Mia giggled, taking a seat on the bed. She padding a spot for Liam. They both sat leaning against her blue body pillow, quietly.
"Who's going first?" Mia asked. She placed her head on Liam's chest.
"I will." Liam cleared his throat and moved, sitting up right. "Who are they?"
His first question was referring to a old family photo, Mia was six, Isaac was eight, and Camden was thirteen; it was before everything when to hell.
"They're my family." Mia was shaky, she hated the topic, but she wanted Liam to know .
"Why is the corner folded down?" Liam asked next.
Mia swallowed. I'm not going to cry; he's gone. "That's my dad." Mia stopped, thinking about what to say. Her dad was an evil man, and she hated him. She was happy he's dead.
"Mia, you don't have to-"
"No, I do. Liam, I like you a lot and want you to know this." Mia sighed. "The day my mom died, my life shattered, and not just for me, but my brother, too. My dad got angered easily after."
"Mia what are you saying?" Liam asked. "Did he hurt you?" He assumed.
"It was report card day. I was ten. He started out okay, he told me I had the clean the house. He lead me into the family room and start smashing things. Glass was everywhere. After he was bored throwing things at the floor, I became the target." Liam's face didn't move. "Isaac was picking glass shards out of my head after it."
"Is that why you live with Scott? Because of your father?" Liam asked, now his hand was hold hers. He was looking sincere toward her. "And where is your other brother?"
"Camden died in combat. For a while it was my dad, Isaac and I ." She explained, still trying not to think about the bad things. "Dad was murdered, me and Isaac when with Derek, but then we moved in here; Isaac left me."
It was quiet for a few minutes after that, Mia was staring off. Again she wasn't trying to think about it. But re-telling it brought it all back. The pain of the abuse.
"I'm so sorry, Mia," Liam broke the silence. He voice sliced through her thoughts. He sat up, and turned facing her, a hand was on her face. He kissed her lips. "I'm so sorry I asked."
"It's over," Mia said. She grabbed his hand, "he will never hurt me again. Now I will go. Liam, who do you live with?"
"My mom and stepdad," his answer was simple; normal. It was over, just like that. "Next question?"
They played for an hour. A good hour it was, Mia learned a lot about Liam. It wasn't so depressing either; they laughed and enjoyed each other's company.
After while they were hungry. Mia lead Liam into the kitchen to find a snack.
To be honest, I don't think we have that much," Mia said staring into a cabinet full of cans. She pulled out soup. "We have soup. Do you want soup?"
"Whatever you want, Mia." Liam told her.
"I don't want soup."
"I'm not even hungry," Liam said as he walked to the seats at the island. Mia was hungry, she was looking into the dark fridge hoping the no of it when bad.
The power had been out for days. The fridge was still cold.
"Here," Mia found yogurt that was cold. "Don't lie, you're hungry." She tossed him the yogurt and sat with him at the table. Before she started eating, she kissed his cheek. "I love you."
~ I'm going to be wrapping this up soon, so there will be frequent updates! And I'm going to start the second one soon! Thank you!
