The petals were fluttering gently to the ground, piling up once again, much like the time Ashton savagely assaulted Calum with them.

Except this time Luke was sitting next to Calum, completely unharmed, instead smiling softly as he brushed some of pettles off Calum's hair.

"Ya know Calum, I always--Calum!"

Calum felt a wave of fear jerk through him as he was snapped out of whatever daze he was in. Almost like cold water running down his spine.

Slowly but surely, Luke faded away into nothing.

Calum felt his own breathing shift as he...woke up?

"Hey, Calum... You in there?" That voice was certainly familiar. Calum didn't want to open his eyes yet though, in fear of confirming who he already knew it was.

"Hey, school's over, c'mon. I know you hit your head pretty hard but we have to get you home, man. Can you hear me?"

Oh, Calum definitely could, but he wished he couldn't.

"I will not hesitate to leave you here. I'm just being a good samaritan right now."

Calum didn't move.

Silence.

"Ok...I was only joking, please wake up dude."

Calum felt a small smile pull at his lips, but before he could wipe it away, there was a shout of triumph. Something about lying hot...dogs? Calum couldn't quite pick up on that last word.

"I know you're awake, you can stop playing Sleeping Beauty now."

Calum finally gave in and grunted. He slowly opened his eyes, expecting to see bright blue one staring down at him.

Instead, he saw grey.

Grey.

"Uh, Luke?"

Luke gave him a funny smile, half confused, half amused. Comused...

Calum tried, alright?

"Yeah?"

Calum hesitated. "Wh-why are you grey?"

Luke's smile dropped. "You really hit your head hard didn't you? Screw going home mister, we're going for a nice stroll down to the hospital."

"I'm not sure I trust you, Lucas."

Luke gave him a look.

"Uh, you do remember that you fell because you were staring at me, right? It's partly my fault that you're like this right now. I'd trust me if I were you, because everyone else has left now, you walked to school, and I have a car. And I really don't trust you to walk home without injuring yourself further."

Calum fought off the squeal he was absolutely dying to let out. I mean, his eyesight might be a little screwed up right now, well okay, his eyesight's probably royally messed up now, but at least Luke Hemmings is here to witness the consequences of Calum's clumsiness.

Maybe that's not an entirely good thing, but it's Luke.

Calum could be swimming in a dumpster but if Luke was ther-- well, maybe not.

"Caluuuuuum, hurry up," Luke whined when Calum didn't move, grabbing Calum's hand and pulling him up. "I'm meeting Aaron for a date soon, man. I don't wanna be late again!"

Suddenly Calum was reminded of his, what would you call it? Dream, I guess.
He shivered involuntarily, earning him a concerned stare from Luke.

"Damn, you're worse than I thought. Come on, up. You're not gonna die while I'm here. Die later when I'm gone, if you really must."

Calum felt a giggle escape his mouth, before he quickly stopped. Luke still smiled at him, even though Calum most likely looked like a weirdo.

Calum did not blush when Luke grabbed his hand to guide Calum to his car, even though it was the only car left in the student parking lot.

And if Calum held hands with Luke on the walk into the hospital, then no one had to know. Calum could always blame it on his head injury.

"Hey Calum, can I ask you something very important?" Luke whispered, although there was no need to, seeing as there was no one else in the waiting room.

"Yeah shoot."

Luke looked nervous, which made Calum nervous.

There was a long pause.

"Can you maybe not sue me if you end up dying or something?"

"If I died I couldn't sue you even if I wanted to, dork."

"Oh. Yeah."

Another silence loomed over them for several more seconds before Luke spoke up again.

"For real though, don't sue, man, because I'm broke as all hell."

A/N:

Disappointing, I know. Sorry. I'll upload a proper author's note to explain this train wreck. I just wanted to finish this story because I was dragging it out and it wasn't interesting. Plus I haven't updated in so long that I'm p sure anyone who used to read this has forgotten about it now.

And yeah I just wanna say this was my first fanfic.

It's trash.

Not the good kind.

But hey I sorta tried?

I hope you're all having a lovely summer (or what's left of summer)

🌵🌵 < imma just end it here I think
