10: Uncovering Secrets and Searching

Karma's POV:

I walked down the hall going to my temporary room, also known as one of the guest rooms. I passed Asano's room, stopping at the doorway and staring at the closed door.

'No... I shouldn't- But I need to...' By this time my curiosity got the best of me. I put my hand on the doorknob and twisted, opening the door. Everything was in perfect order. I looked around, pulling out books, and looking under things. As I was pulling a book out, something loud shattered behind me and glass shards were scattered everywhere. "Shoot..." I ran to grab a broom and then swept it up. After throwing it all away, I continued to scan the room until I got to this diary-looking thing. I opened it and started to read. I skipped some entries because they were long and boring and drawn-out.

'Finally I guess I'm free from my dad's grasp. I never liked him. I'm gonna start over by moving to Tsukuba. I'm excited but I'm scared at the same time. It's stressing me out... Anyways, I'd better go or I'm gonna miss my flight.'

'I made it! I ended up finding an old friend from high school. her name's Okuda! I wonder why she never fell for my charm. Everyone else did.'

'Its been weeks since I last wrote in this. Anyway, it's been going good, unpacking was smooth. I'm still kinda iffy on stuff... I don't know. Anyway Okuda called me up and told me that the landlord for her apartment wanted her out since she was struggling with paying taxes and stuff so she's coming to stay with me for a while until her boss gives her the promotion she's been waiting for. Hopefully he says yes, not for my sake but just so that she's happy.

'My father's words keep ringing in my mind. I can't escape them. I can't hide. I need help. I will ask Karma, maybe. Oh yeah, Karma is coming down for a week soon. I can't wait to see him again.'

'She got the promotion and has long since been back in her apartment. I invited her to come down and stay a week, the same week Karma is staying. I plan to tell her how I feel at some point that week.

'I never did ask Karma for the help. I don't need it. My father is right- his words are superior. I have a plan, a plan like no other. Okuda was going to leave this evening, but she's been out with that boy all week long and I haven't been able to talk to her. I'll kidnap her and make sure that no one else will be able to talk to her until she melts into my confession if she doesn't accept it in the first place.

With that I slammed the book shut. Trying to relax, I breathe, "If only you asked for help, Asano, you wouldn't be like this!" I exhaled sharply and left his room. Walking down the hallway, I entered my room and set the book on my desk. I left it there and collapsed onto my bed.

Rain began to pour heavily down onto the pavement, completing the already grey sky. "It's an awful day for rain..." Thunder and lightning pulsed throughout the town, along with a small squeak from my door frame.

"Karmaaa..." I sat upright and looked towards Okuda.

"Whatttt~" I smirk at her as she walks further into my room.

"Lightingggg..." She slowly entered my room the rest of the way. "I don't like it!"

"So what are we gonna do~" I cooed seductively. She was blushing madly but walked over and hit me on the head. I chuckled. "Haha, sorry."

"Anyways may I stay with you until the lightning clears?"

"Sure~" I looked back to my desk and then got up. "I will be back." With that I exited the room with the book of horrid.

Okuda's POV:

As the lighting continued striking, I was huddled up on Karma's bed with several sheets piled around me. It smelt a lot like Karma. Not in a creepy way, he just happens to have quite a strong scent.

I remember that I was supposed to be leaving tomorrow evening back to my apartment, which I've had for quite some time now, but Asano told me that Karma was staying for a week and insisted I waited another week just to see him again since it would kinda be like a very, very minuscule high school reunion.

"Take a break!" He had told me. "Like a few days off, since you probably won't be able to take an entire week off."

I had agreed, but I only took a few days off- one for when Karma arrived, one for the day we're leaving, and another one the day before he leaves just to spend time together and pack my stuff up.

Every time I go to work he tags along. I didn't mind, though. He was good company, for both me and Elizabeth. They get along quite well with each other. Maybe a bit too well, if I'm honest. Either way, I'm still able to hang out with people I care about, no matter where I'm at. Except the toilet. You shouldn't hang out at the toilet.

"Back. I don't think the lighting is gonna stop any time soon." I peeped as one hit really close by. I can hear Karma laughing in the corner. I hate him so much.

"DON'T LAUGH YOU LITTL- EEP!" I screeched and his laughter died to an occasional sharp exhale of air through his nose. It was less annoying and I personally didn't have enough energy to scold him anymore so I gave in.

Karma sighed and came over, sitting right next to me and trying to comfort me... NOT HELPING! My face was still burning up, rivaling even Karma's hair.

My face felt like it was gonna melt off. "Get some rest." With that he scooted over and got under some blankets on his side, so I did the same while still on my side. As the night went on I couldn't seem to fall asleep. The lightning was dying down- only a few strikes every so often. But one really loud strike crashed down and I could swear it was right next to the house.

"SHI-" I almost shouted but I knew I couldn't curse that loudly with Karma sleeping right next to me. He would hit me right in the face. I turned around and looked at his face. I watch him smile and wrap his arms around me. Awesome. This is gonna be a night.

Despite my thoughts, I passed out a few minutes later and was peacefully sleeping. Little did I know Karma was still partially awake and listening to my steady breathing.

'I'm glad she's still alright...' He thought before drifting off to sleep.
