Chapter 26 - Let's go on a date

After ten minutes, the rest of the group emerged from the school building, wearing sandals and summer shorts, since it was starting to warm up. The bright sun sparkled off Jordan's glasses as he removed them, placing them on the table. "Hey, Fern" Jordan said, giving me a peck on the cheek as he sat on the other side of me to Evelyn. Nikolas and Kyle sat down as well. Nik kissed Evelyn romantically as he sat next to her, and Kyle sat down opposite me, with another girl at his tow.

"Who's that?" I asked Jordan, nodding to the girl sitting next to Kyle. "Kylie Brown. She's Kyle's new girlfriend apparently". "Oh" I said, shocked. I never imagined Kyle ever having a girlfriend. But I was very happy for him too.

Evelyn coughed and everyone turned to listen to her. "How about we go to McDonald's and get some food?" she suggested. Everyone nodded, and got up to leave. Jordan and I remained at the table in silence as they ran off to Evelyn's car. She always likes to be the driver. I guess she just likes having control.

"Is everything alright?" Jordan asked, moving slightly closer to me. He placed his hand on my thigh and tickled my skin with his fingers as he moved them around in circles. "Well, earlier Evelyn asked me where we're at. And I realized that I don't even know the answer myself". He nodded and looked away, watching the sun as it sparkled in the sky.

"Well I think, that we are in a relationship" he stated. It sounded like he was sort of asking me, and telling me. I'm not sure what to say, so I put my hand on his. "Well I want us to be in a relationship. I love you Jordan". He smiles, and gazes into my eyes. "I love you too" he says softly.

He gets up from the table, and kneels in front of me. He grasps my hand in his and says, "Fern Isabelle Ashford, will you be, my girlfriend?" I smile and laugh as he kisses my hand. I rise from the seat, dropping my sandwich onto the table. "Yes! Absolutely!". I move onto the tips of my toes and lean forward into Jordan. He embraces me and we stand there for a few minutes, just hugging.

"How about, I take you on a date tonight?" Jordan asks, resting his forehead against mine. "I would love to go on a date with you" I smile through the words, drawing lines up and down his strong, muscular arms. He lifts me up, gripping my waist, and gives me a quick kiss. A few minutes later everyone arrives, carrying bags of food.

Evelyn hands me a bag with a chicken wrap inside. "Yummm, thanks" I say, and take a bit. Jordan leans over and takes a bite as well. "Are you two all fixed up then?" Evelyn asks, while Nik pinches her waist, causing her to break into fits of laughter. "Yea, we're good" I say, looking up at Jordan and smiling.

"I see you finally got the nerve to ask her out Nik" Jordan says, smirking as Nik reaches across the table and snatches some of Jordan's food. "Actually no, I had the balls to ask him out myself" Evelyn says, laughing as Nik gives her a playful glare. I laugh with her, and I can't help saying, "If you want a job done right you better do it yourself". Evelyn laughs louder, grinning from ear to ear.

After settling down and spending some time catching up, the school bell rings. I almost forgot that we were at school. We don't have a uniform at this school, so I'm dressed as I would be wherever I went. There is only fifth period to go,and then we will be able to go home. And tonight I had my first official date with Jordan. I can't help but be excited.

Science was my last class of the day. Nik has finally bought his own pen, so that's a good thing. Mr Cedar was really nice today. Apparently I was off sick with a serious medical issue. I can't complain though,anything to pass science.

Nik and I paired up and did a biology assignment together. Yes, we are now doing biology. I'm actually excited for this topic. For some reason, I love learning about how different bones and muscles work in the body.

Nik and I spent the entire lesson making a diagram of the human body with the bone and muscle system. I was the one to label everything, which took a long time. By the time I finished, the bell rang to mark the end of the day.

I walked the short distance from the classroom to Jordan's car. I stood by the passenger door and waited for him to arrive. As I listened to music on my phone, I saw two tall and slim figures strutting towards me. Oh, here we go.

"Fern Ashford" Molly said in a girly high pitched voice, as her and her best friend Olivia reached me. "What" I said tiredly. I don't want them to ruin my day, it's only my first day back, and I'm supposed to be going on a date later. "How's my little cousin Jordan treating ya? I heard you two had quite the holiday together". Of course, since Olivia and Jordan are related, she would know, wouldn't she?

"Do we have to talk about this? I was sick okay, just leave me alone". I turned around to try the car door again, but it was locked. Great. "You were sick? Oh, I see, someone had a bun in the oven. Ooooo, this will be good news for the school paper". Brilliant. Now she thinks I'm pregnant? How much worse could this get?

"No, she's not pregnant Olivia" Jordan says, confidently walking up behind them. "You know well enough why we were gone. So you and your mouse friend over here can go away, and stop bothering Fern". Olivia scoffed, and Molly stood worriedly behind her. "You'll see Jordan, you'll see. Just because the family like you more than me doesn't mean everyone else will".

With that, Olivia walked away, clicking her six inch heals as she headed to her car. She got in her black beetle with Molly and drove away. Ha, a beetle, just like her. "Come on, get in" Jordan ushered me into the car, and quickly got in his side and started the car. When we arrived at my house I got out of the car, with my bag in tow, and started to walk up the path.

"I'll pick you up at six, okay gorgeous?" Jordan smiled. "Absolutely" I replied. "Where something nice" he said with a wink, and I nodded as he drove away.
