SEHUN'S POV
I was the last one at the memorial service. Everyone else had gone. It had only been three weeks since Baekhyun died. I hated thinking about him, I hated holding this picture of his smile frozen in time, I hated sitting across from his memorial listening to students, friends, and family coming in and out. I hated crying, I hated remembering. But how could I forget? He sacrificed himself to save Kai, to save humanity. Because of him, weakening Taemin didn't take long and we were able to prevent him from gaining his full strength. Suho and his pack disappeared somewhere halfway through the fight and hadn't been seen since. Good. I'll hunt them all down if they ever show their faces again.
I picked myself up from the ground and kept his picture clutched to my chest. I made my way past Chanyeol who was crying softly by himself and Baekhyun's family and my pack to the outside of the school. The grass on the field was brown and dead, and it had begun to snow. Large, lazy snowflakes drifted down from the sky and landed on my eyelashes.
I stopped at the edge of the woods and lifted my head breathing the crisp air. After Baekhyun had sacrificed himself I had to give his body to Chanyeol so he could escape back to the school. I blocked most of the memories from my mind, but I couldn't erase the image of pain on his face, the blood draining from the wound in his chest, and his beautiful brown eyes that would never see again.
I wiped angrily at the tears in my eyes with the sleeve of my jacket and howled into the woods. Why couldn't it have been me? Why did he have to die?
I stood there for a few more minutes and then pulled myself together, turning to go back to the school. Suddenly a sound caught my attention and I spun back towards the woods. A voice? On the wind, barely audible. I cocked my head, listening intently with my werewolf hearing. This time it was clear... definitely a howl.
I didn't recognize it so it wasn't anyone in my pack. Did Suho's pack dare to show--
Out of my peripheral vision a shadow blurred into focus behind a tree. My eyes traveled from his legs, to his waist, to his neck, and finally to his face. He was still wearing the clothes from that day, and his eyes...his eyes instead of the chocolatey brown... were orange, like someone had mixed neon red and yellow paint together.
He smiled at me and whatever I was thinking completely left my mind. We both reached each other at the same time. I hugged him tight and tangled my fingers in his hair, confirming that he was real, that he was actually here.
"Baekhyun."
