Normani's POV
I made my way towards the dungeon, Ally and I made a schedule for the two of us to visit the princess while Dinah is gone. I feel remorse in very step I take down the dungeon. I didn't mean for any of this to happen at all. In true honesty I was only here to try and win a spot for the game the previous king has set. I never intended that I'll be friends with the people in here.
I tilted my head up high to see if the guards will try to stop me. The other one did but the other didn't. The other guard looked at his friend.
"Why are you staying still? As ordered no one must come in here." The guard said. I looked at the guard that just spoke, but when I was about to intimidate the guard. The other one talked.
"If I were you, I will let our precious Duchess in." the guard smirked. I looked at her wrist to see a bracelet with a pendant only Dinah's loyal friends have. I smiled, oh Dinah you never failed to amuse me. So, I looked at the guard once again.
He looked at me frantically and apologized, begging for his life, he was about to kneel down but I raised my hand. "Just don't do it again." I said and looked at the other guard and gave her a smile. As I walk in I noticed that all the prisoners are packed in a cell, well that is because they are many of them in here. I scanned each cell to see if the royalties are in here somewhere. I was nearing the very last one and much to my surprise they are separated from the rest of the others. Good that Artemis still has the pity in her to not pack her family in a cell.
"You too, huh?" Lauren said as she saw my face. I knitted my eyebrows together. I waited for her to continue just in case she's giving a sign or something. "Normani, Normani." Lauren said with a smile on her face as she neared the bars that separates me from her.
I learned from Dinah that these walls have ears and it is pretty much not safe to speak my thought directly, if it is meant for it to be a secret. "Lauren, how have you been?" I asked as I stepped a little closer. They don't even have beds to lay on. I scanned the cell to see that Camila is seated beside her parents looking at me with questions in her eyes.
"Oh, let's see, apart from feeling betrayed and locked up down here. I'm feeling majestic." Lauren said and smiled sarcastically. I don't know what game she's trying to play but I knew that it's safer to play along with it. As I was about to talk Camila stood up.
"I don't know what I did to you." She said, hurt is evident in her voice. I know that she will become a mother soon and I fear that our plan will be a little too late, that Artemis will figure about the baby bump. So far, Camila is fine, especially with the baggy clothes she is wearing.
"But I know for sure that I probably did something because you're with them. Well, I apologize for what I did wrong." Camila said through a hiss and she didn't look me directly in the eyes. Although, she looks like she's doing it. I leaned closer and it's good that I am wearing a hooded cape and this will cover everything if ever someone is behind me.
I leaned closer, "Do you really think I'm here to accept an apology?" I asked.
"I'm so-" Camila continued.
"Don't apologize, Camila. People like them deserve nothing but to rot with their pitiful thirst of whatever they have now. Let them drown." Lauren said as she tightened her grip that is showing but the other is open to reach for something I am about to give.
"Oh, Lauren. Who do you think you are?" I said and leaned in closer to try and 'intimidate' her. I then passed her the note I wrote and she quickly put it inside of her shirt and waistband without changing her demeanor. To whoever is watching, I envy you. "These bars are already a slap on your face because you tired to be a hero and yet, you are still that poor peasant that has big dreams." I said I know that Lauren has a dark past but I know my limits.
