Rebecca's POV
"What happened to the dress you bought last week?" Josh asked when I stepped out of the bathroom. "Not that I'm complaining about this one."
"I'm not going to an outdoor party in a gown," I answered with a scoff. I sent him a smile. "Why haven't you changed yet?" I did a small twirl for him. "What do you think of the dress?"
"I don't know what I'm supposed to wear," he sheepishly told me. "You're dressed up all nicely. I don't know how I am supposed to look with you by my side."
"Josh, I dress up all the times because I want to," I said with a smile. "Just wear what makes you comfortable. You'll look great either way." He smiled and kissed my lips.
"You finish getting ready," he told me with a shrug. "I'll be done soon." I nodded. I sat down in front of my mirror to do my makeup. Crescent kept rubbing herself against my feet. I did my makeup with black and white eyeshadow and finished off with bright red lipstick. I jumped when I felt arms around me.
"Josh, you scared me!" I exclaimed. I turned over to look at him. "But damn, you look nice." He was in black jeans and a gray button-down shirt that fit his body nicely. I leaned in and pecked his cheek. "You look great, Josh." He wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed me under my jaw.
"And you look drop dead gorgeous like always," he whispered with a smile. "Are you ready to go or are we having the shoe conversation again?"
"Shoe conversation? I already know what I'm wearing," I stated with a slight scoff. "Go feed Crescent." He gave me a pointed look. "Please," I added with a pout.
"You're lucky I love you," he said with a wink. When Josh left the room, my smile slipped away I stared at myself in the mirror. I knew this is a bad idea. I know how my mother is going to react. But why am I still going? Why am I going to put myself through the embarrassment of being humiliated in front of my whole family? Forget about me, why am I letting Josh go through it? I grabbed my purse and took a deep breath. Josh and I have been dating for three months. I'm on my sixth month, about to start my third and final trimester of pregnancy. Someone is going to do the math. I just don't want Richard to be involved. "You ready?" I smiled at Josh and nodded.
"Yeah, let's go," I responded with a smile. He grabbed my hand and squeezed it gently.
"Don't worry, Princess," Josh said when we got in the car. "You have that worried look on your face even if you think your face is emotionless. Your heart is racing. I'm only assuming it's because you're scared of me meeting your parents officially."
"You've seen how terrible my mom is," I responded with a sigh. Josh began driving after I put the address on his phone
"Will she make a huge scene in front of people?" Josh asked. He drove while keeping a steady hand on my knee.
"Most likely not," I told him after thinking. "Why?"
"Then as long as we're around people then you'll have nothing to worry about." I nodded slightly. I ran a hand through my wavy hair. "Reb, nothing your family says about me is going to change my feelings for you. I am in love with you, Rebecca."
